Dayton experts - am I missing something

Just saw this solid gold, absolute beauty of a Daytona.. But the price. With all daytonas going up recently, this one is just USD30k, am I missing something or is it a bargain? Its watch only, feels heavy enough & w/ random serial. The shop keeper says 2015 but I'm totally sceptical abt this part. Appreciate advice, tks

It’s about market value so not a true bargain. You could probably get a bit more off as it’s watch only.

Does it have the deployent clasp?

To be honest it looks fine. I liked these dials a lot. They stopped producing them in 2015, although the racing dial does live on eg yg with matte black dial and champagne sub dials with red track.

It’s a really nice watch but I would but the seller, take off that plastic and look closely at the dial. Check all the functions etc

I never made it to Dayton and don't feel I missed anything!!! Much of Ohio is beautiful but I'm not too certain about Dayton.

As to the original question, buy the seller; if you know them and trust them your likely fine if you like your Daytona with a strap!!!

Sure you are not having a FOMO moment because its a Daytona? Would you also have gone to the AD to order this reference? nevertheless, wouldn't call it a bargain at 30k

Are you uncertain of it’s authenticity? Will the seller allow you to take it to a reliable source for verification?

Probably not mate, in Hong Kong the service is pretty minimal, they will probably just say buy at your own risk. Although it does seem to be authentic from my handling of it

If there's any doubt at all, take a pass. That's an awful lot of money!

No bargain imo unless you love the look. Is there any doubt as to its authenticity? That’s a different story!

Do you like the watch? I’d pass 3rd party, no bracelet, no B&P.

But if you like it and feel comfortable paying 30k than the value is fine.

So someone took the bracelet off and put a leather strap on it. The dial may or may not be original to the watch. No paperwork. Too many unknowns for me.

Looks like a 116518 to me, and that dial was available on the 116518.

Either way at $30k hard pass from me.

I'd pass. No box, no papers and no bracelet. And to my knowledge, that strap was not a factory option when the watch was in production.

I see nothing to make me think it’s not authentic but pretty sure the strap is aftermarket. (I think it came on strap but OEM Rolex ones are more traditional i.e. black or brown).
Not really a bargain though unless you really love the dial.

That price depends on condition in terms of value, but beyond that and more importantly, it comes down to you and how you feel about the Maserati blue racing dial, which I love, and thoughts on the strap, I’d replace with OEM. A 2015 YG Daytona on leather with say a stock black dial is probably worth around $24-26k IMO, but you are right hype has grabbed this one too. That dial to me adds value, but to others, it may lower value.

I would buy a watch like this one only if you live it and don’t need it to retain value. For that game, stick with SS Sports or OF Daytona’s.

I'm no expert but I think the price would be fair if it included a solid gold bracelet as well.

Surely looks like a strap model. Is it a rolex strap it will be marked. Other good companies for strap would be like ABP.

We can go back and forth on bracelets. For a steel watch i like a bracelet. But tbh, brutally honest. I like the rolex bracelets but dont love them except for the masterpiece.

To me your getting arguably one of the best produced chrono. With a very nice strap and clasp but without the bracelet. But the bracelet. Almost any breitling and any AP etc would arguably be better than the rolex. So yes i think these models are total sleepers and will pick up steam.

So what price would be market price / the figure to aim for with negotiation
