We Should Be Thankful

This is a voluntary hobby. For those that have been at this a while, these aren’t normal times. But I would be lying if I said I didn’t enjoy how much my hobby brings a sense of security with spending this kind of money than ever before. It’s made me more excited about collecting watches, especially the ones I would never get the chance to experience before. So instead of hating the current environment, maybe we can take a minute to appreciate it!

I agree I appreciate being fortunate to afford such things however I do not appreciate not being able to purchase anything except for going grey.

It’s frustrating that the market has become what it is

They’ll let you spend money on a Rolex, just not necessarily the one you want at first

I appreciate having the means to participate in this hobby at a decent level. I have truly been blessed in that aspect.

The current climate in the market, that's another story all together. I have zero interest in adding another Rolex near term.

All the watches I have were acquired through being resourceful. All legal mind you.

So to have what I have in times of hardship makes me feel happy and to some degree blessed.

Point being that no other hobby brings as much joy while preserving your capital! It is a win-win!

Well I do not hate the current environment. It’s made me appreciate those Rolexes I am able to acquire as well as other brands outside of Rolex. Still hunting for a few hard to gets but I enjoy the hunt more than having the actual watches in hand.

I'm thankful every day, not just being able to buy watches. In fact they are probably one of the first things I'd give up if I had to.

I definitely agree...as the value rises, the risks rises. With all the watch robbery’s that has been occurring hand in hand with rising of value it makes you double think what you wear and where even more.

Criminal elements might be more interested in taking risks at 15k vs 8k if they see you wearing a 6 digits sport Rolex...that takes some of the joy and excitement away from the hobby I must say...

This. Exactly what i was thinking. Used to be SS is quite "cheap", but now they're almost 70-80% of what gold version goes for.

In any case, be grateful for life. Always.

Great post!

Frankly, we should be thankful as TRUE enthusiasts have expanded to other brands. The overall health of the industry is doing quite well, even Ming and other TRUE independents.

Meh. If I couldn't afford a rolex or got too fed up with all the gamesmanship, I could easily switch to another brand and be equally happy.
