FS: 1976 Rolex Day-date 1803 Buckley Dial

The Buckley dial is one of the most sought after dial variants of the Datejust and the Day-Date, with the latter being even harder to find. This has the correct black hand set that perfectly matches the painted numerals — most of the examples today have incorrect or replacement steel or gold hands. Much of the lume plots on the dial have disintegrated, but (in my opinion) does not affect the look of the watch too much because of the placement on the dial. The date wheel exhibits some discoloration due to age, but has the correct open 6 and 9s for this period.

This example has an extensive service history, making at least two trips to RSC and a couple more independent watchmakers. Its frequent service trips also mean that the watch has been previously polished in the past. It’s still running strong (6s/d) after 45 years and ready for its next owner.

The watch comes on an emerald green distressed leather strap with a gold plated buckle.
