Oysterflex Bracelet on a SubC
After trying Everest and Rubber B, both good products. I set my sight on going the OME route. The deciding factor for me was protecting my investment. Let's be clear, subs are worth a pretty penny now-a-day. Although the aftermarket rubber strap are well built, the connection to the clasp always concerned me. It's a weak spot, subject to failure under the right circumstance. I read an article about the Oysterflex bracelet and what makes it uniquely different..."a high-density elastomer band encasing a flexible titanium-nickel alloy core." The titanium core includes the spring bar holes a.k.a the "weak spot." I was sold...OME all the way. It took a little while to find a source where I could purchase them. But it was worth the peace of mind that my sub is securely attached to a bracelet. I know I'm not the only one who has done this, Rolexforum was a great resource. Rolex should seriously consider offering the Oysterflex on all their sports models. It feels perfect.

Great combo IMHO. Excellent looks and function. Like to try that on my Sub C.

I like the combination and it would look good with SmartyJones endlinks!!! I don't really have an issue with using none OEM so there's less protecting the investment involved in my changes as they are easily reversible. Looks great!!

looks good, I just installed a Rubber B on my 16800, I wish the oyster flex fitment was closer around the watch case.

Looks good OP, I think it is odd that this isn't any option on the diver ranges.

Looks great! Are you using the ym40 or Daytona’s oyster flex (are those the same size)?

Use the daytona guide. The clasp is a tad longer.

I greatly enjoyed my YM42 with the modern Oysterflex, complete with easy adjustment. Lovely.
However, I now also have a Daytona with the gold oyster bracelet. Not as convenient as the Oysterflex, or as ‘sporty’ . But it’s hard to deny the sheer impact and beauty of the metal bracelet. It takes some beating……at a price. |

I believe the OP was expressing concern about the integrity and structure of other rubber straps. He said protecting his investment was a big factor and immediately went out to talk about how the OF was built and designed to withstand hard use without failure. I don't think this had anything to do with protecting and/or keeping the bracelet pristine. |

Looks awesome!
Is that a Sub 40 or 41? You are using the Sub's clasp I assume. What watch is that oysterflex bracelet designed for? What spring bars did you use? How was the connection of the OF to the clasp? Special directions? |

Thanks for the info. Since the new sub is 21mm lug to lug, I guess the ym42 oyster flex bracelet might (maybe, not positive on the fit) be the one to look for if I ever went for it (but it might look too much like a ym42 come to think of it). But it would look great I’m sure.

How do you remove the oysterflex when you want to change back to original? Force a tool in there? Looks like there is no space for a spring bar tool. I am interested in Rubber B simply for the form fit around the case and easy access for my Bergeon spring bar tool.

You can push down the OF strap away form the lug a little bit to get the spring bar tool in. I use the 7767-F as the fork is thin and you don't need a lot of space to compress the spring bar away form the lug to remove the strap.

Thanks for the reply. I ended up with the Rubber B today and going to try that out. For only 240USD if it’s not worth it I could go the OF route but it seems a bit more involved to acquire and more precision than I have to quickly (without damaging, lol) to change back to the bracelet if I don’t want the rubber on. Soooo, the weak point would be the spring bars themselves so the band regardless of rubber b or oem not likely to fail either way. But if you like the style, that’s what counts.
