I'm buying a 126613lb bluesy as my everyday watch that includes working

Hello everyone just like the title says I'm buying the 126613lb as my everyday watch, it will go wherever ever I go, I don't baby my watches my 16013 bi metal datejust was my daily beater before swapping it for the tudor north flag.... I don't even take my watches off when in bed. I understand that gold scratches really easily what's your thoughts on the solid link oyster bracelet and the the likely hood of stretch? Are there any good examples of modern stretched bi-metal oysters and has rolex made any of improvements in this new model to prevent stretch. Cheers

There is much more strength in the current oyster bracelets. Of course, much of the excessive wear that is called “stretch” comes about through abrasive detritus finding its way into the pivoting points between links and dwelling there over long term use. Your own pattern of use is approximately 1/3 more than Rolex expects.

Ideally you’ll be able to take the new watch off long enough each couple of weeks to give the bracelet a thorough cleaning. Some people have posted all sorts of preventative cleaning routines and you have no doubt already seen them here.

I think some of the best advice I would give anyone is to find one really great wristwatch and simply wear the hell out of it. Not everyone is a collector or aspires to have a rotation or even a beater. There are certainly many people in your situation worldwide that select a great singular Rolex and live happily ever after. Wear it and make it your own simply that. Don’t stress about dings scratches and bracelet stretch because in the end you are wearing a wonderful piece.

No worries at all. I used my 116613LB everyday as well for over 5 years. It still looked brand new with ZERO stretch. I think the new models 12XXXX all have ceramic sleeves dont they? so even less to worry about.

If you plan to bang it up or go out of your way to be rough with your watches then maybe it will stretch. Daily wearing you wont have a single issue.

I’m curious about the ceramic sleeves. I thought they were only on the DD models. I have a 126110 LV and would be interested if mine has ceramic sleeves.

My rose gold rootbeer has the ceramic sleeves.
However I don’t think the TT does.

Wear it snug not like a ladies bangle and keep it clean. No stretch for you!

If daily wearing and sleeping under covers the PCLs eventually develop a nice light swirly patina that is rather unoffensive but will not stay high polish shiny.

I work in offshore catering I'm away for weeks on end the watch will be covered in oil, fat occasionally salt, I'll also be wearing it a lot in swimming pools and the ocean

Yep as above that stuff is ok. Just wash it off with soapy warm water and your good to go.

As long as your not a mechanic banging up the watch on your tools and cars its all sweet. Enjoy your new watch.

It's fine with that stuff. Just rinse ocean water or pool water with fresh water. Use some dish detergent on it when it gets gross.

I've seen pics of those here. Most impressive was a guy from the American west that uses it everyday on the ranch. Feeding the livestock, putting up fence posts, digging wells, whatever you can imagine on a ranch. At the end of the day, he puts it on the desk along with his pocket knife and calls it a day. The Sub is a very sturdy piece and I admire those that put them through the grind each and everyday.

I wear my 16613 as you are wanting to. 24/7 except in the shower (where I take it off to clean it). I however work in the construction industry and am a very hands on person. My watch sees everything from super chlorinated water to dirt and mud. I presume the new model bracelet is much better than mine as my 5 digit bracelet has some stretch. Yesterday was my 1 yr anniversary with this watch and I’ve had it on my wrist almost the entire time.

I wore a 16613 for a few years 24/7 I also wear my watches in bed. Wouldn’t worry about if you’ve done so with your previous watches just wear and enjoy polish in a couple years :)

I wore a 116613 as a daily for three years.

Give it a regular wash in warm, clean, soft water when you're showering and rinse it well and you'll be fine from a wear (stretch) perspective.

The polished centre links will develop fine swirls and micro abrasions pretty quickly though from contact with practically anything you are likely to wear or bedding. Nothing that cant be fixed with a light polish come service time.

OP, you're fine and enjoy wearing it. Like your hands, just wash oil/etc off with hand soap and you're good.

I used to operate a Link Belt 408 crane wearing a 1979 Sub date. I don’t remember the pay but I was happy!
