Hardest PM Rolexes to get at a dealer

Wondering what you all think are the hardest PM rolexes to source from a dealer (excluding exotic/jeweled pieces).

My guess would be

1) Platona
2) YG Daytona green dial
3) WG GMT Meteorite
4) RG Skydweller
5) WG Sub

I’d put the RG DD40 w/ olive as #4 and move the others down one spot.

It’s crazy to think 1.5 years ago the PM SkyDs would just sit in the case.

They had ugly roman or arabic numerals that made a great busy watch too busy. Getting my WG SkyD was easy. Getting the current white dial took a lot of effort.

My comment was in reference to the new dial PM models with the baton/sticks.

I’d swap 1 and 2 and find a spot for DD green dial at 5.

Why? LOL

Stop chasing the hype and perceived shortage and just buy what you like. Especially at precious metal prices

Have to agree but many of todays Rolex owners are driven by the hype, just to wear the hype, and not the watch.

^^^^^Yup. The Rolex brand has morphed its identity from a nice reliable luxury watch to “over priced” and “hard to obtain”. Its value is in “showing off a factory watch someone else can’t easily buy”. It’s vapid and pathetic . Its game the industry players have embraced and promote to control many like puppets.
No one knows or even gives a sh!# about the actual watch or movement inside but only how the perception of “rare” a particular model is.

Yeah, it’s almost like, people like things for different reasons.

The vast majority of people who have bought rolexes in the last 30 years did so to obtain a status symbol, not because of a love of horology. This is nothing new. The same principal extends to the pretty much all luxury consumer goods.

You can criticize it as vapid but it’s just human nature.

Really? My AD made it seem like this one was fairly easy compared to the YG green dial.

They definitely do make a difference however not sure why green would be harder to produce there was no shortage of hulks being produced - meteorite however a lot is chucked away, at any time Rolex is drilling the day/date/chronograph holes the whole thing could crack and the process is started again.

Going back to the original question - all of the ones listed! Be a straight up no from an ad here for me in London for all of them.

Any Daytona is tough to get now - PM or not. My AD said no one even gets one unless there is some history because demand is so hot. Even for TT.

I agree. They're all equally allocated for the most part. And the demand is very high on all 3.

This seems about right. Maybe swap 2 & 3.

My AD said the 116508 YG green (John Mayer) Daytona is the most in-demand PM timepiece. He gets requests for this model daily, but only receives 1 of these a year.

To think these Daytonas are hard to get and when you go on chrono24 there is over 900+ 2021 models be it different variations - far from rare IMO
