my watch was recognised at butlins skegness

was sat eating breakfast in coral beach (butlins own cafe for residents) and a guy said
"nice rolex mate"
then his wife said
"did you get it from thailand like us?"

i replied with
"erm no! i got this from a jewellers in leeds"

his wife replied with
"well we payed £50 for this rolex in thailand and its just as good as yours"

i laughed
then turned round and finished my breakfast with my wife laughing at the look on my face

mmmmmmm
im laughing now but believe me i nearly choked on my fried eggs

I've had someone tell me the same thing (word for word, almost). The poor guy really thought he had a real Rolex from someone on the street corner in NY...

Damn philistines

Hannibal Lecter would call them "free range rude". I call them Skegness Monsters, unfortunately they're allot more common place than the Lockness variety. Had you had pointed out that "you can't pass a replica down through the generations", they would've looked at you the same way a cat watches the TV, complete bewilderment.

I wore my trusty LV Sub to the Bogner Regis 'resort' last weekend, I don't think anyone recognised it.

Well ignorance can be blissful, my ex just collected the kids and clocked my new sub. She happily thinks she can add "cheapskate fraudster" to my many failings. Suits me!

Shaggy, the problem with people who buy a $50 Fake Rolex is that they have the IQ of a wombat.

I would not worry or choke over it.

True. I think I did overhear a wombat telling a story about some woman he ran into asking if [the wombat] bought his fur coat on a trip to Thailand...

Maybe they were envious of his watch, so they make a segway in order to brag about their trip to Thailand. I mean who the hell comes out of no where to say shit like that? In no aspect is it ok for a random stranger to walk up to someone and ask if their watch is real.

That would have been a very good time cut off about a 4 pound juicy fart. The kind that hangs in the air for about 10 minutes due to heavy oil content!

The nice thing about having a real Rolex is that you can use in Thailand to get out of jail if you had to. Try that with a fake.

Me too! Ah, the good old days... shame I can't remember most of 'em.

What a rude git though. And his wife probably had a fake LV bag!

I would've been fine until the "and it's just as good as yours" part. They would have a received an education in both manners and Rolex quality on the spot whether they wanted it or not.
