Oyster Perpetual as a daily / adventurer watch?

Hey guys.

I ended up selling my exp 36 (too small for me) and getting my OP41 as my “daily / vacation / do everything watch”

Anyone else use an OP as their “everything” watch?

Skiing, beach, light labour etc?

I have heard some mixed opinions on where the OP sits, is it a dress watch, a sports watch? I’ve heard people say it’s an “in between / casual” watch.

Would love to hear everyone’s opinions.

My favourite watch for this purpose is an EXP 39 but in order to obtain one currently I’d have to flip the 41 and put out another 4k Canadian (which I really don’t want to do)

Let me know!

P.s I was able to figure out the situation I previously posted about and none need to be sold!

I’d say ….in between casual watch. But definitely a gada watch. Just be ready for the bezel to get its visual wear, being that it’s smooth

I sold my OP36 and picked up an OP41. Both were/are my daily wearer but the 41 felt more sporty to me. I think the new line is definitely more sporty due to the vibrant colors. I’d love to post a pic of mine but it never seems to let me on here

I also see it as an in between/casual watch, but it can easily do it all, especially with that black dial and brushed bracelet.

Enjoy it. It's a great watch and fits well with your others!

It’s a well built watch, can probably cope with most of life’s adventures, so anything that you can throw at it the OP should take it in its stride.

I really struggle with these ‘categories’ that people love to put their watches in, they’re pointless.

My guess would be that your OP can do virtually anything that a Submariner can do other than the diving beyond 100m, Sub wins out on that one.

Just wear it and enjoy wearing it on life’s adventures.

I have the same OP as you and it’s my every day watch. I think it can easily be dressed up or down and is by far my comfiest watch. Difficult to categorise as sports or dress.

I was too late asking for the Explorer 39 which was my preferred choice and I didn’t value it enough to pay the grey mark up.

More than happy with my choice to go with the OP and it’s made me question if my intentions to add a Sub are justified.

Great looking watch! Clean and classic and can be worn with anything, the black. and white OPs are probably the most versatile watch Rolex ever made. IMO

That is really a stunning piece in the black dial. I'm currently waiting for this exact watch but they seem difficult to get from ADs at the moment.

Definitely a watch for daily use, for me it does everything.

Hemingway did as have countless more in the last 60+ years. Outside of the WIS circles I think the OP is probably the Rolex model most likely to fit that bill in terms of size, price and appearance. And unless you really prefer a 39 to a 41 based on size alone I wouldn't pay a penny more for an Explorer I than an OP.

They all can be, but I think the OP may really be THE go anywhere do anything watch. Honestly the domed bezel hides scratches a little better than the smooth bezel of the Explorer anyways with how the surface doesn’t capture the light in the same way. It can be used in both more formal as well as sporty occasions. It’s very well rounded.

I agree with this.

I have a milgauss with smooth polished bezel. I’ve owned it a month and even in low light it looks like I’ve owned it 10 years

Mine has been through many extreme situations.... such as mowing the lawn and taking my daughter swimming

Jokes aside these were designed to be worn doing just about anything, I like how it can look just as at home at the beach as is does for a night out

If you are keeping the Pepsi and BlueZ then the 41OP is a niche better choice IMo.

The OP is pretty much an Explorer in different badging.

It can be worn for anything you feel that it is worthy for. Pretty hard to say that a multi-thousand dollar watch is less "dressy" than the guys Timex to your left, or less adventurous.

Your watch, yes. Your shoes, not so much.

My OP39mm has been my GADA watch since I bought it last year. I take it everywhere I go: Swimming, hiking, etc... Here she is with me hiking Zion a few weeks ago. I mean, its a water resistance steel watch, what more could you ask for in an everyday watch?

I think the biggest thing for me is the sunburst dial on the black model tends to lean it toward a little more dressy?

Black OP41 looks nice but i’d go for the explorer39 if i were you. It’s more suited for all around daily/adventure use whereas the OP leans more on the dressy side imo. I much prefer the bezel on the explorer as well. Looks more sporty imo.

I agree with you as you can see here me wearing my Explorer 39mm while exploring and camping in the Appalachian mountains in North Carolina last week. What a great time.
