VC blue Overseas V/S FPJ Chronomètre Bleu
Many have compared the blue dial of the Overseas with the CB, they are not really the same.
The Overseas dark electric blue with subtitled reflection with the light, the CB has a different blue with much more different effects depending on the angle you see it. IMHO, the VC has a nicer blue but the CB has hands down a much more WOW effects, dark blue, light blue, mirror effect, indices floating effects. I can find a couple a shades of blue for the VC vs 7 for the CB. The CB gets the mark for the dial. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Thx for the pix
I’ve seen both watches many times and prefer the VC by a large margin personally |

Not sure to be honest, it is quite unique, as I said previously many compared it to the CB, but it is not the same blue, both dial are made by the same dial maker, but I don’t think the technique is the same, there is a sunburst effect in the VC while the CB has more depth. Truly beautiful both of them, but the CB dial somehow seems like it requires more work. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I paid retail and traded it on a Lange for 1-2k under retail. Obviously wish I knew the future. Then took a bath on the Lange.

This is what makes the CB absolutely unique. The 3 D effect floating dial is beautiful. This doesn’t discredit the VCO at all, as it ticks other boxes, waterproof, versatility, antimagnetic etc… The VCO is a much more daily watch to wear, a sport watch basically while the CB is more dressy, night posh dinner with caviar and champagne kind of watch IMO. But as far as the dial is concerned, we could see how more technical and elaborated the CB is when compared side by side. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

They don't have all seem to have the floating effect though.

Having owned a CB for many years and handled the VC many times, I find that the CB dial plays with the lighting so well - it looks different every time. And overall is a better quality watch imo.

The “Bleu” is merely one of the many charming aspects of the Chronometre Bleu. In a similar way, the blue dial Overseas is much more than its color. Two great watches. Also two very different watches.

Thanks for the side by side comparison photo. I really like both dials. Overall, I prefer the blue dial of the Overseas, even though it's more one-dimensional, but I respect the multi-dimensionality of the CB's dial.
As for the watch itself, the Overseas is my least disliked of the 70s steel sport luxury watches but I don't like any of them and so I'd never buy one. (I should have bought several dozen 5711s when ADs were desperately trying to unload them for $12k new back in the aughts!) I had considered the CB when it was around $18k new and readily available but passed. I've come to realize that I should invest in watches like I should have invested in stocks: whatever I don't like, I should buy because it's going to the moon, good taste and fundamentals be damned! |

Things are different today, if you can get any of those watches at MSRP it's an instant winner, but five years ago if you bought any of those from an AD it was only because you wanted your name on the warranty/COO and it was an instant financial loser. |

Thanks for sharing, first time i've seen them side by side!
You note the dials are made by the same manufacturer? |

The vacheron is a nice watch
Not better not worse than the AP 15202 or Patek 5711 But none of these 3 mass produced pieces come close to any FPJ

I don't agree with your words, it's (relatively) exclusive. Not as much as F.P. Journe, we agree.
Rolex, Omega and others are mass-producing industrialists. It is not uncommon at all. For the trinity we are on production divided by 20 (at least) compared to these industries ! ~ 40,000 watches for AP per year, ~ 25,000 for VC, all models combined. Yes it's not micro-brands, but I think you're exaggerating... P.S. : Thank you for the photos. These dials are magic.

FPJ. Date on VC ruins it all. If VC were a dual time model, would go for that.
