My humble collection (STOC) with backstories
Tudor Black Bay 41 - My first of the three purchased back at the end of 2019. I had just earned a promotion at work, receiving a position I had hopes of reaching 10 years later in life. To celebrate the occasion, I visited the AD and treated myself to the watch. My first Swiss automatic at a price point I had never came near paying for a watch. It really threw fuel on the small “watch bug fire” already burning in me. Tudor Black Back GMT - The second of the tree purchased in early 2021. I had just purchased my wife a piece of jewelry to give her as a gift to commemorate the upcoming birth of our first child. While picking it up at the AD, she surprised me with the watch as a gift. It’s hard to surprise me and cause me to be speechless but she was able to that day. It’s a great last reminder of the years spent with just my wife before the birth of our first child. Rolex Submariner 126610ln - The last of the three added to the collection purchased Father’s Day weekend 2021. My wife had given birth to our son about 2 months before and my AD new I wanted a 126610ln. We stopped in the AD on the Friday before Fathers Day, picked up an item on hold and introduced him to our new son. He then pulls me aside, away from the rest of the clients and in a whispered tone asks if I’m still interested in the piece because he had one available for me that day to purchase. The rest of the experience was a bit of a blur as it was an exhilarating moment made even better shared with my wife and newborn son. This watch also holds a deeper meaning for me as it not only commemorates the birth of my son, but a remembrance of my late parents who are not alive to meet him. When they passed away a few years back they left a modest amount of money behind and I had no real need for it but also didn’t want to frivolously spend it. I decided to turn it into something of lasting meaning as a “last gift” from them. I thought a classic Rolex watch would be fitting, I’m just glad it just happened to coincide with my sons birth. All this shared to say I have now found myself feeling like I’m at the end of my watch collecting journey. I do have the means to purchase more models but I no longer have the itch. I’m sure that feeling will pass but that is where I find myself for now. Maybe when I turn 40 in a few years I’ll find myself wanting again and use that as an excuse to pull the trigger on another piece but for now I’m going to enjoy the small simple rotation. Anyone else find themself in a similar place in their watch collecting journey? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Nice collection. That BB41 is I think a bit underated, really simple but they’re bloody nice, especially the bracelet

Agreed. I really love the simplicity and quality of the piece. It definitely isn’t a hyped watch but that’s not what turned me on to it. Although I am finding more people are starting to collect them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Great collection and write up!
Unless you are currently 39, good luck making it to 40 without purchasing another… please let us know the secret if you do! ;) |
