AD posting on social media

I feel that When an AD posts an image of a rolex model on their facebook or instagram they are implying they have it. Whether they offer it to a person who asks or admits they have it is another story.

This is my feeling and sense. Is this something rolex requires them to do.

Anyone else get this feeling?

I interpret it as a particular reference they have arranged with Rolex to stock...which may, or may not be, presently available.

Yes, once they post they should get it soon, if not already have. But we never know for sure.

No, they post billboards along the highway with models they don't have. It's still media.

This was my thought exactly. The social media bit is a little misleading if they post a pic of the watch in hand, as opposed to a stock image from Rolex. I would imagine, though, that Rolex tries to limit social posts to the latter.

One experience I had recently: I go to AD ask them about one desirable model. They suggest another model(much more expensive PM, less desirable) which will be available soon. That other piece just happened to be posted on social media earlier that day. But I did not know.

This is a misnomer. The PM is logically more desirable unless of course this is “Rolex world” in which on TRF the SS is the desirable piece

My AD said his Rolex rep comments on his social media postings, frequency and content. There are expectations to keep the brand prominent on all platforms, visual, print and internet.

Interesting question and something ive always wondered myself. The AD’s post the most random watches on these posts that it makes me wonder if there’s a method to the madness.

False. They are trying to create long term customers. They don’t have it yet.

My local AD posts frequently but I can't seem to find a correlation between post and stock. At first I thought it was implied first come first purchase, but then again many of their posts are for hot pieces that certainly has an extensive wait list.

Nothing on FB, IG nor any platform an AD uses has anything to do with their actual stock. The images are part of the co-op advertising deal and helps the AD build name presence with viewers.

Have no idea as this so called social media today should be called un-social media, and never will even try it, as today it causes more harm than good.

They’re required under their AD agreement to spend a certain amount on advertising/marketing

It’s advertising the brand as opposed to a specific model being available.

Companies and dealers use social media for advertising, nothing more. It's a cost effective way of putting an advert in front of a lot of faces.

Thinking it means anything else is overthinking it. In fact thinking is over thinking for the general YouTwitFace user population.

AD posting on social media

Do you think the same of the SM dudes posting pics and flipping watches from their backpacks? How about the rest of the re-sellers posting stock model pics instead of actual inventory?

They are advertising themselves, once you get in touch to discuss your requirements the advert has worked.

It doesn’t matter which watch they advertise it is simply the bait to hook you.

Exactly! Looks like a Rolex ad, but really just there to hook you and to get you interested and in the door.

I don’t see SM as any different from billboard or print advertising.
