My Rolex AD Experience
First Let me say I hadn’t considered a Rolex, or wore any other watch in almost a decade. Given that, my purchase experience has gone vastly different from others here. I decided in February this year I wanted one. Didn’t go to the AD until May this year. We spoke, I was immediately offered 126613LB and several DJ in various configurations that were all brought from the back safe, none in the display. I declined all and told them I’d rather have 126610LN and 116500LN or similar. Foolish right? They told me a year on the Sub and probably two on the Daytona. I said good, give me a call. I paid for and picked up some items I had previously ordered for my wife and left. I’ve been a customer of theirs for about fifteen years. Purchasing anniversary, birthday, graduation, etc for a wife and three daughters. They’re a local store in a small MSA with many other items. I bought from them in 2007-2009 when the economy was crap instead of going to mall stores. I bought during the first part of the pandemic when no one bought anything. I picked up my 126610LN the first part of August. So, end of May to first of August. I guess the point is I would be insulted if, after spending thousands there over the years, they gave a 126610LN to someone in two months because they came in and bought a Tag to establish a relationship. I mean, that person could have stopped over the years instead of going to mall jewelers, right? Now there is a hot market and people just want to get it right now. Here's a comparison: Ford gave customers with a history first chance at the 2020 GT. Did a guy who’s purchased Toyota all his life and then bought a Ford Festiva two days before applying think he had a shot at getting a 2020 GT? Just thoughts on my experience and establishing real relationships.

I'm totally lost here -
You're not upset because you got the watch you wanted and because you're a loyal customer. But you wanted to be upset and you were preparing to be upset if someone less deserving than you got the watch you wanted ??? This is one of the best meaningless things I've read in a long time "I would be insulted" - No Soup For You !! (I'm sorry I just can't stop laughing) |

The OP makes a valid points that a long-term purchasing relationship can and should carry some weight over the wunderkind who only recently made a purchase....

Is this what talking about watches has become?
I am very confused?

Jewelers want to sell jewelry. I don't blame them, very high margins. The thing is I'm not into jewelry and I don't have three daughters. Therefore I don't intend to spend thousands on jewelry just to be on the jeweler's good book. To me it'd be a waste of money, time and energy. They want to sell me a watch I'm interested in? Fine. They don't? Fine.

Like several others before me, I'm not sure what this post is about.
But the OP clearly has something to say, perhaps it just wasn't conveyed clearly enough. |

TLDR; spend money with a store for 15 years and they will continue trying to do business with you. But if you buy Toyota’s, you’re going straight to hell.

My Rolex AD Experience
I think the OP is saying he is content and this happiness is based on the Sub LN he bought and his belief that he will be sold a SS Daytona within a year or two.
He further goes on to explain his current success and future assumed success is due to his purchasing of over-overpriced jewelry over fifteen years. Look forward to seeing the Daytona and Ford Fiesta steering wheel pics, OP! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I think the message is along the lines of relationships usually take several years and regular purchasing to develop?
Which, in the majority of cases is true. But not always. I think the rest was to do with unrealistic senses of entitlement sometimes expressed when some people can't have what they want as soon as they want it. There is another thread currently live that encapsulates this in places. I don't think this behaviour is confined to buying watches. There appear to more fully grown babies than ever, walking around crying their eyes out. But maybe I only think that because I'm old and gnarly. I could be wrong on both counts. |

I do in fact know a life long Toyota buyer who owns a Ford GT.
You must not dabble in Land Cruiser. No one has to sell you anything. |

Op I understand what you are saying and even agree with you… But could have told the story a bit clearly.
