DJ 41 Wimbledon vs Air King

If offered both watches at retail, which would you buy?

I like both but out of the 2 I would go DJ.

Edit: Just saw you already have a Sub and DJ41. For that collection change my vote to the Air King

This might be one of the closest calls ever. Never considered it before, but seeing them side by side I go Air King. Pretty cool looking watch.

To me, the AK is mismatched and chaotic dial mess. Leftover Exp1 arabic parts. The Wimbledon single 9pm lumed marker is just odd (the lumed dial has single horizontal line)

I’m an air king fan. I love the green and the size of the watch, plus the fact it has an interesting story. I never understood the Wimbledon hype. The single stick at 9 always bothered me about the datejust 2’s and they continued it on the 41s. If it was fully Roman and had a fluted bezel, it would be a different story.

Buy the dj and swap the dial.
The wimbeldon layout is such a mess, imo

Never liked the Wimbledon. I only like the Air King because it’s so different. You can wear it and people won’t even know it’s a Rolex.

And I will add, I think the Wimbledon dial looks best with a smooth bezel. Compliments the dial better. I like them equally on Oyster or jubilee.

It is me or don’t the DJ looks smaller than the Air King even though DJ is marketed as 41mm and Air King is 40mm? Is the DJ small or Air King large?

Just zero interest in owning either one of those. So I’d say thanks, but no thanks.

Neither for me , The winbledon dial is popular but I've never liked the stick marker at 9 and the AK , it's a niche watch , for me those WG big numbers are out of place . value wise I think the Ak offers you more for the $$ having the Milgauss case .

The AK was a oddball and wasn't really the cup of tea for most people but I loved it for its unique dial and splash of colours. The dial design seems to appeal to younger collectors who were less fond of traditional Rolex look. It's a love or hate affair!

Seriously if you are offered both then get them together... Both are priced at least 20 to 30% above msrp at grey dealers.

Air-King. When it first came out in 2016, like so many others I struggled with the look and design. A few years on, I'm now a proud owner and its gets more wrist time than any of my other watches.

Definitely AK! I had DJ41 Wimbledon, even with a flutted bezel it is very plain. I sold it Nd now I consider getting it TT. While AK is extremely attractive because if the match between Arabic figures, black dial and green colour.

I think the Wimbledon dial pairs really well with the smooth bezel and oyster bracelet.

Personally, wouldn't be considering either DJ41 or AK40 on the basis of size alone (I'm a 34-36mm guy). However I'll offer what I consider the objective benefits of each:

Air King:
Same full antimagnetic protection setup as MG, at almost $2k less
Larger winding crown (which I didn't realize made a difference until this week)

DJ41:
3225 movement, with its 70hr PR
Date (if you care)

DJ. I personally think the Wimbledon dial goes better with the TT’s however. The Air King just doesn’t do it for me. Probably the only Rolex I just couldn’t put on my wrist.
