DBLUE Pearl popped out, cost and will insurance cover ?
Woke up this morning and banged my watch by mistake at the wood threshold of the door. Looked at the watch and it was looking fine and went on with my morning routine.
Later I was looking at the time and found out the pearl is missing. I guess when I looked at it the first time I was still a little sleepy. Anyone has experience replacing these on a Rolex DSSD DBLUE model ? What is the cost using RSC ? Will Jewelers Mutual cover ? Thanks!

On the ceramic inserts now the pearl can be replaced by Rolex, you could ask your insurance as for cost replacement pearl not 100% sure, but a lot cheaper that to have to replace the whole insert.

Thanks for taking the time to answer. What is the expected cost ? Can I have it done at the dealer or does the watch need to do to Rolex SC ?

My watch is not due for service anytime soon (I understand service intervals of 5 years were cancelled) and it's keeping time perfectly.

Sorry to hear that happened, I'm surprised more responses have not been posted to answer your question. It has been posted before about the " pip" being dislodged from the bezel.
I think JM would require you to take the watch for repair for a estimate. Be it RSC or a authorized dealer. My AD has a Rolex watch maker on staff. But would cover it I'm sure if not under warranty. You are definitely not the first to experience this failure. Best of luck, let us know what happens.

In my case it looks like there is a part of the pip broken in the insert it's as if the insert is almost flush. If I try to take the watch to an independent watchmaker, will they be able to take that piece out of the insert ?

Thats a cheap and quick fix. If your local RSC is open just take it in and they might even do it for you on the spot while you went and got a coffee or lunch.

Live in Tampa, FL. No Rolex SC in the area, from what I see New York is the closest. Is it just about gluing the pip or is there a piece currently stuck in the insert ?

Call the RSC in Dallas and they will quote you the price. I would request from Dallas, not NY, to have the packaging sent for me to submit the watch for repair. Things happen and it is part of ownership, not a fun part, but a part all the less. I would not ride around with minor damage to my car any longer than it would take me to get it repaired nor would I let this damage to my watch sit. A call to JM should get you an answer but I would consider not filing a claim if less than 1k to repair. You can be cancelled and this maybe reflected in future rates. Get it fixed and let us know how the process works.

A JM claim for a cosmetic issue could set up a future premium increase depending upon claims history. That’s something to consider.
I like Peter’s idea if it doesn’t bug you too much. I would not try to pull it out. If you’re in warranty period, I get your desire to not have a full service for many years. But if so, don’t have anyone other than RSC play with it just in case. I don’t think RSC will quote it on the phone - but call Monday and let us know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

RSC can replace just the pip. If I remember Bas saying before, they pop the insert off, drill the old pip out and replace it with a new one.

Just call RSC or good local AD. It’s way easier than sorting through answers here. Doubt this is an “insurance worthy” issue. Seems like a quick and easy fix.

Do they pop the ceramic insert out of the bezel, or do they leave the ceramic insert in place to do the replacement pip?
The ceramic bezel insert is very brittle and anything they are doing anything that requires removal and replacement there's a risk that it will break. I imagine they will have to factor that in anything they attempt a repair. Also I understand there is a plastic ring that has to be replaced with a new one everytime the insert is removed as it's single use |

Same thing happened to my ceramic Sub. It will cost you about £90 to replace pip. I managed to crack my bezel too that was another£300 at RSC

Solid reply. Thanks! Did you go through the AD or directly to the RSC ?

Wouldn't even bother with insurance. Feels like around 100 bucks, tops. They might even do it free if you say it just fell out.

Jewelers Mutual will cover it under their "damage" clause.
Don't you have a copy?

Fixed one myself on a Seiko custom bezel. I actually created a new Pearl from scratch but not sure I would attempt this on a Rolex :)

Thanks, I'm so left handed I would never, ever attempt to do something like this myself.

I’m a ship modeler and use to compete on a national level and again, could never bring myself to do this on an expensive watch. I only did this one after a local jeweler turned down my request to fix my Seiko. However, I am willing to experiment on your Rolex
