216570 Polar Explorer II Losing Minutes a Day
At first I thought it was perhaps that I had not wound it enough or worn it enough, but it always lost a few minutes every month -- and one day it was close to 30 minutes off, so I figured the power reserve was down.
I wear this watch most days, and today (after wearing it all night and to bed) I just looked and it was about 15 minutes slow. I never abuse the watch, although it is pretty much my daily at this point -- I bought it from a known seller on this forum a few years ago and it was fine, if a bit slow. Now I don't know if I am going crazy or not, but this seems like a serious problem. I could take it in for warranty repair, as it was bought in Italy in 2017 but don't want to be without my daily for months on end... Will try wearing it consistently for the next couple of days and see -- the only thing I can think of is that it was on my nightstand a couple of weeks ago and had the window open, and strong gusts knocked the lamp off (and the watch with it, onto the wooden floor below, but could not have been more than 3 feet. I would think that this would not damage the movement, but perhaps? |

Send it in under warranty while you still can. Something is way off with the movement to be losing that much time.

I dunno....a fall to the floor could have done some damage but you say it has always lost a few minutes/month. I've owned two 216570s and both were never slow. I understand you don't want to be without your watch but a trip to RSC could solve things for you and help you enjoy your EXPII all the more.

You could check if the watch is magnetized before you send it off. Would be pretty simple to fix if that's the issue.

Definitely second the advise about magnetism. You can get demagnetisers on Amazon for just a few bucks, or go to a shop and they can check for you.

216570 Polar Explorer II Losing Minutes a Day
I have the same watch and a 3 foot drop shouldn’t hurt the movement of a 216570, I’ve hit mine on stuff all around the world. If you don’t have a Timegrapher, use an app like Movement and track over time to see what’s going on before you send it in.

Rolex is designed to take a 48" fall to hardwood.
So yours should 'not' have been compromised by that short drop. Still under warranty - send it in. Don't mention the fall, just state the timing is way too slow. 3 feet? That sounds really tall for a nightstand.

Make sure that it is fully wound. A quantitative analysis how much full crown turns (360 degrees) are required for 31xx and 32xx you can find here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showpost...postcount=1704 If no improvement is achieved then send it directly to RSC. A repair under guarantee should not take several months. |

If magnetised it would be fast not slow though wouldn't it?
If its definitely fully wound then I'd send it for repair/service and wait the 8 weeks. I've got a watch with RSC at the moment and while I'm not enjoying it being out of my hands, its better to have it running well. |

Thanks, all.
I did end up taking it in since the 5 year warranty runs out in March of next year. I'll have to wear my other watches in the meantime -- and I suppose a lot of them are starving for wrist time. We will see. The current price, by the way, as I was perusing the servicing costs (out of warranty) for a "professional" model is $1100 just to do the basic service, to say nothing about the expense if something is really wrong. Yikes. |

The warranty is not going to pay for a damaged/broken watch if a drop has bent or broken one of the many parts that could be the cause of it's off performance.
Naturally, if it is a manufacturing issue, it will be covered.
