Rolex box opinions

Wondered if anyone can give an opinion on these 2 boxes i just bought. Pics 1-9 relate to one box set , pics 10-11 are for the 2nd box. Both open and close with nice firm snap.TIA

It's my opinion that Rolex boxes are slightly dated compared to other luxury watch brands.
Hope this helps

Have to agree they are just run of the mill medium size boxes made in there millions and definitely not the best in the watch world, and made in many parts of the world.

Mine look slightly different to those you post...

The crown is of like a hold leaf where's the word Rolex is embedded into the fabric. Both on yours looks embedded into the fabric?

You also don't seem to have a pickup tab on the base of the watch foam holder?

I think they're are slight variations in the boxes however since 2015, not sure but the numbers on the back seem random from the research I did on this.

My box doesn't have that flip up tab thing in your first pic. Neither does my wife's from her new OP34. There must be many variations.

The only reason i posed the question, as i recently bought 2 at auction which were fake. They were both returned and i got my money back. These were from a jeweller who has now ceased trading. Thanks for your replies least no one screamed fake.

Rolex boxes are subpar and best thrown away IMO.

Can we see multiple shots of the pillows? Specifically the seam on the underside.

Why would anyone buy the box on its own anyway?

I think some are trying to convert a "naked" watch to more of a "set" and thus add value. I'm not sure this really pans out though. The watches don't come with a box from the factory, so there is no real provenance to consider. Honestly, even a fake box, who cares? The fake has a decent chance of being better than the real thing, which is obviously not a point of pride for Rolex. The papers or card are far more meaningful and I'd argue are the majority of the extra value of the "full set". But of course you cannot buy papers or card separately (legitimate ones anyway), so picking up a box gives certain people some partial sense of satisfaction.

Sorry to ask a tangential question. But I often see on the internet PP and AP ultra high end watches packaged in paper box that isn't befitting for a G-Shock. Why is that?

The PP and AP watches I’ve purchased came with beautiful wood or ebony boxes, sometimes with built in winders. Usually an outer cardboard box is included to protect when shipping.

Have to agree that Rolex boxes are not very nice. But they have a particular smell….

They are similar to the boxes that I left at the AD when I picked up my watch and walked out with it on my wrist

Tough to tell from the pic, but it looks like it could be separating at the seam. If it seems like it's not put together well at the back (glued and separating rather than folded) then it could be a bad sign. It's tough to see anything obviously wrong though.

POSSIBLE FAKE !
The underside of the cushions dont look like that on REAL rolex cushions.

I just saw a video with a comparison of that very thing. If i can locate
the video.... i'll post the link.
