Protecting your watches! Are films any good?

I was scrolling through Instagram the other day and saw these plastic films that help protect your watches. Has anyone tried them? how do they look on the watch?

I think it looks ridiculous, watches are meant to be worn, scratches and all can be polished out at service.

Picture below my own working tool 16600 SD its been serviced and polished by 3 different RSC world wide, and after a very very hard life doing what is was designed for underwater use still looks good and now 20 plus years old. Expect my real working tool watch SD has seen more use and often abuse than most of todays mainly pampered watches will see in ten life times

This looks to be a really clean job, there is a huge element of luck involved. The modern 6 digits with the boxy no chamfer midcase are more prone to rounding ....I can't handle that funhouse rounding reflection....drives me nuts

You may have scrimped and saved for years to buy your watch, or be a multi-millionaire, it matters not, some people, me included, love to keep their stuff pristine.
My work multimeter (which I didn't even pay for) gets cleaned weekly and still had the protective film on the screen.
It's just a mindset that some people have, and some don't, each to their own, but there seems to be an awful lot of hate aimed at the "keep it new and shiny looking" crew around here.

Just an observation, not that anyone cares.

I fully respect that, but is it really pristine with a bunch of nasty tape sticking all over? With rough and curly edges and a milky glow?

Is it not best to just put it in a display under glass then and admire it that way?

I'd never put those plastic stickers over any of my watches, I wear them all, but I am careful with them. I use safe cleaning techniques, I won't wear them if I know I will do any physical activity that could get them banged up, and I am "arm aware".

I just like having my watches look close to what they looked like the day I picked them up from the AD, you can have your cake and eat it too if you're careful. At first it will feel like the watch is wearing you, but once you get used it, you won't notice it.

But to each their own.

Yep. Open doors and such with the right hand abs rinse the watch before wiping with a cloth. All my watches look almost new. However, certain desks will scratch the clasp.
