A question on this JLC Reverso model

Am considering a reverso again, after buying a grande calendar before but sold it as it was humungous on my wrist. Now down to the green reverso small seconds (with the waiting list) & also came across the reverso shown in the pics below, but no box or papers. The shop owner said this was around 10 years old but after some digging, I believe this watch could be even 20 years olf & with no service papers, I really need to think again.
So can anyone help with identifying the year range with this iteration of the Sun Moon Reverso?

And is a price of USD9,200 fair with no no box/papers & potentially 20 years old watch? Although it is a great looking gold reverso which looks in v good condition vs. The green new reverso. Which one would you get?

I have the same Sun Moon but in white gold with the black dial and white numerals. I ordered it at the end of 2005 when I found out it was about to be discontinued. I believe the watch was released in 1999 so your example could be indeed over 20 years old. If the watch is in good condition, $9,200 is a very fair price. (It retailed for around $15,000 USD and my last year of production white gold retailed for $18,350 USD.)

The new green dial Reverso is great but this generation of Sun Moon is one of my favorite Reversos. I finally had mine serviced a couple years ago and it was about $900 USD for a service from JLC, although it took over a year before it came back correct from Switzerland. (Avoid the US service center if possible.)

I chose an early 2000's Reverso over a new one for a variety of reasons. One significant reason for me was that I felt that JLC watches of that period were better built and more creative than their current counterparts. I have been very happy with my watch; I would go with the Sun Moon over the new model.

Sun & Moon is great, imo the greatest new era Reversos are Tribute to 1931 Grande Reverso made around 2012~

Thanks for the replies guys. I've tried the green on & it's definitely a slow-burner, in most lighting I've found it's quite a blackish green but this can be a gd thing as I'd want to wear in a formal/work setting. Waiting 9 months is a bit of a bummer but a nice modern piece is attractive as well as potential holding its value. I'm a watch lover, not an investor but I was burned on my 1st JLC so I just keep an eye on the resale.

To have a gold reverso would be a great addition to my collection, I've got no gold pieces atm & the complications are nice too. Although I think Arabic numerals don't look as modern & sleek as the stick markers (esp sword). I've gotta budget for the service too, but is it true to say when I've had it serviced I can say it does have papers?

If it was serviced by JLC, it would have service papers but not original papers. This will ensure the watch's authenticity (although with the open case back of the Sun Moon, this isn't an issue) and will make it more valuable than having no papers but not as valuable as having the original papers.

The green dial Reversos are going for a premium right now but who knows how long that will last. While I don't think you'd lose too much on either Reverso, I don't see the green dial becoming like the Rolex Hulk. The Sun Moon has already taken the hit and will likely just go up in value with inflation. If you were to sell it, I don't think you'd lose much more than the service cost. Still, the 8 year warranty on the new JLC is nice to have. To me, it would boil down to which I liked more but from an objective perspective, the Sun Moon is a complicated precious metal watch while the green is a time only steel watch, albeit it's new.

What do you think of the red dial Reverso? The blue dial? They do make a duoface blue dial, which is probably the one I'd go for if I were looking for a steel reverso with a colored dial. Also, the Sun Moon seems to fit your wrist better. It's a difficult choice but good luck.

Thanks mate, for the detailed reply & insight. I put my datejust on a leather strap for the 1st time just to see how I'd feel wearing one in this hk humidity which seems to be 10 months of the year, as obviously the reverso would be mainly on a leather strap. I'm still undecided, I kinda think it's still quite a delicate watch & even for a work watch it's nice to have something that can be worn with a suit but also a bit more rugged, if that makes sense
