Big birthdays require a big watch…. I bought a 126710BLRO “Pepsi” thoughts and pics…
There comes a time in your life when only you know what you really want for your birthday. To celebrate a big half century birthday I bought my self a Pepsi. This watch’s colors initially pushed it off my radar but after some time and “deep watch collection reflection” I started thinking about the BLRO a lot. The red and blue in my Yachmaster II had me loving the more colorful vibe. I like louder watches. That’s all it took as many know. When a watch starts to call to you it’s just a matter of time.
I have been fascinated with the colors of the new Pepsi and it’s different shades in different lights. I purchased my watch from a very good trusted seller I have know for years. It is a immaculate/unpolished 126710BLRO full box set has a warranty card stamped late 2018. I believe it is the first generation Pepsi bezels with more color/hue. The colors on my Pepsi are ever changing depending on the light and I find that very appealing. It goes from purple to navy blue and bright to dark red depending on the light source. In direct sun, the colors seem to glow within almost like they have a back light built in under the bezel. I found it very fun trying to capture its ever changing hue. My camera isn’t over saturating these colors. It really looks this bright. I owned the latest BLNR on its super jubilee and found it THE most comfortable Rolex combo in the catalogue. It’s brighter and more extroverted twin BLRO is the same. The jubilee bracelet breaths so well and it’s links roll over the wrist so effortlessly that it’s somewhere between a strap and bracelet. You get all the comfort of a strap while maintaining the security and breathability of a bracelet. The jubilee gives all the bling without the bothersome hairlines of a pcl. It’s a masterpiece. I put my no scratch easy link green felt pad on the inside of the clasp as I always do. I have done a few threads on this idea and it works keeping any marks from the inside of the clasp scratching the top of the link. The thinness of the case back and case in general adds the this supreme comfort factor. I can see why the new BLRO/Pepsi has rock star popularity. It’s colors are not mistook for any other watch. It’s 1950’s heritage backs up it’s horological clout. On the jubilee bracelet there is so much bling and the colors pop to such a extent, it’s really it’s own animal. Inside light the watch is tame and more traditional with darker shades and hues. Ouside in the sun, look out because it’s loud and proud. I was having so much fun trying to capture the hue of the bezel. The camera lens would sometime show one particular hue where my eyes saw another. It’s like 4+ different watches depending on the light source. I did a quick gif just raising my arm in and out of the sun. Over the Rolex GMT history there have been so many colors on the bezel. From the muted Bakelite to the modern ceramic/cerachrome that seems to want to capture all 65+ years of bezel colors at one time, there is no denying the interest and demand this watch has earned.

Congratulations Mystro!! Great watch.
I would say it looks like you have Mk 2 dial, the Mk 1 being a bit more pastel (red being a bit more faded, blue being a bit more purple). Not that it matters. They are all beautiful. |
