New anthracite or brown on rg SkyD would be tougher choice for me. AP in your matchup

As a current owner of that exact same Skydweller in RG I would choose the AP all day.

Really don't like ROs (or any Genta design) so SD for me, but would prefer another dial..

I’m not a giant fan of the AP but would have more use for the chrono and idk, i like it more in this showdown.

AP Chrono better investment in current market. Sky is a more durable and better watch overall and is a complication whereas the AP is just a chronograph.

This sounds like it was written by a bot. A complication is not something a watch is, it is something a watch has. And a chronograph is unquestionably a complication. The Sky-Dweller is certainly a more complicated watch (annual calendar, second time zone, stop seconds, self-winding) than the AP (chronograph, date, self-winding).

Are you buying one? That SkyD isn't current so would be used/grey. The AP is Ł60K retail and Ł80-100K grey.

So is the Sky-Dweller the same asking price as well? Is price a factor here?

Yes, about the same price point as AP at retail.

I thought RRP for both current models there's about Ł20K difference?

Surprised if the old SkyD is Ł60K grey...

Makes it a no-brainer, but I would have gone AP in any case. Btw, if "AP at retail" means new from an AD, this would presumably be a 26239 with the new in-house flyback chrono. That vs the SkyD's movement would at least be a good debate from a horological engineering POV.

I’m thinking the same thing. 26239 will be the one available now, correct? If you are getting it at retail, I would have to think this the model you would receive. If so, it is thicker and heavier than the 26331.

The AP will wear super big. Of the two, I would go with the SD. The SD is, also, the more durable of the two.

I remember the original 21mm lug width SkyDs losing quite a bit of value. Seems to have come up a lot, maybe piggy backing on the newer model and general poor Rolex availability.

Different market then, I understand that. May have just been shock of the new I guess back in 2012 or whenever.

Having said that I thought then and still think the original 21mm lug width was too narrow and the watch doesnt look as balanced as the new one. Also the romans are too busy on an already busy dial. Also you'd need to be careful with the old model because I think there was a movement component tweak, something to do with the hacking function being hit and miss. You'll be out of warranty with one now and the 9001 is complex and RSC-only for service.

I like the new Everose with sticks and either slate or chocolate dial, and even grey that's much cheaper than the AP.

In actual usage, SkyD. Perhaps a different dial tho. I'd prefer chocolate with Everose. Was the same with Everose DD40.

Great minds think alike. Here’s what I’d pick. And did
