Surprise Daytona from AD

I was at my AD for a usual stop in today. (I’m fortunate enough to have a great AD near my house so I can pop in sporadically and say hello.) I’ve had the white 116500 on my list for some time now and hoped it would be in soon, but didn’t expect it today. Very pleased and grateful to have a good relationship with a great AD.

I know. Lol. I was there and my birthday is in a few days. They wanted to surprise me and make sure I had it in time. I know people write about terrible ADs but there are still great ones out there.

Sounds like they knew they’d be seeing you and planned for an in-person shocker. Mission accomplished, mind blown!!

I may have read it wrong but are you saying the OP is in England (UK)? New England is quite a way away

Yeah, New England - USA. Hoping inventory in UK improves for you either way though.

I hope you get it one day.

I'm not the target audience but I do understand that the Daytona is much loved by many here. The OPs post does sound almost too good to be true (even to someone who doesn't care like me!).

Not sure what too good to be true means?

I believe that drrd only meant that the OP was lucky and nothing more.

As in buying one retail at an AD is a dream for most, so just popping in and hearing 'That Daytona you were after...' I imagine would have many pinching themselves and thinking 'this is too good to be true'. You know?

Certainly not trying to cast doubt on your post (and my apologies if it sounded like I was).

No worries. Just wanted to clarify. More than anything I just wanted to remind people that great ADs are out there and us “average guys” still get watches, and the idea that every watch in demand goes out the back door isn’t true.

Nice birthday present. Mine came and gone last week. Nothing from my AD. I did tell them in July that I want a BLRO as my next purchase.

Maybe I should have stopped by before the actual birth date and be surprised.

Big congrats it’s a great feeling opening that green box and see that white dial and black ceramic insert. I have a great AD and equally great SA. They hate the current situation as much as we do. Even though I’m getting what I ask for it still irks me when I see dozens and dozens of new fully stickered Daytona’s at grays

Epic score. This keeps the dream alive for the masses two pages deep on the list. You should play the lottery tonight.
