I had two of my favourite AD's ignore my emails / texts last week lol

Last time I spoke to them was no less than 1 month ago so don't think I was being too overbearing.

I'm waiting for something special to come through which was somewhat confirmed, but no arrival date yet.

This would clean up the forum quite a bit.

Understand frustrations but my AD has been brilliant, totally honest and upfront saying it would take 2 years to get my watch - 2 years later got the call and ran down and bought it

I actually turned down a stainless sub date about a year ago to continue holding out for a pepsi, i thought by doing so it would show im in this for the right reasons. 2 years later still no pepsi so i gave up on that recently and asked for the new explorer 1 instead the day they came out thinking they would be easier to get. They dont even respond to emails anymore. Its a complete joke, and im not in a large city either. Cant imagine what large city people have to go through fighting against big spenders

I do not believe much if any 36mm Explorers have been delivered. I sense this because so few are on-line for sale. My AD has not seen one yet and I am a good bit down the list.

One of my ADs told me he can’t get me a Daytona this year, neither next one.
In fact he can’t get me any Rolex.
I am devastated.

I was in Vegas last week, and swing by WOS in Wynn to take a look.

I had no expectations to see any Rolexes when I went in. In fact, I spent 20 minutes browsing all the other brands before wandering into the Rolex section. I wore my Breguet there and was checking out Speake Marin watches.

Just when I got to the rolex area, another well dressed gentleman entered the store and made a bee line to Rolex. He started asking for sports watches and got the standard response from the dedicated Rolex SA there. The SA did not offer to take down his info and he left frustrated.

I made it clear to the SA that I was leaving the next day, and I have a good relationship with my AD back home and had no plans to buy a Rolex from WOS in the immediate future. Strangely, she did ask me to fill out her contact info card. For what? I don’t know.

Of course, filling out a card doesn’t mean anything. However, I had a pleasant chat with the SA on Rolex watches and the state of my collection. It definitely wasn’t the horrible experience that many had reported having with ADs.

wah wah wah.

i can't get the watch i want when i want it so i'm gonna tell Rolex how they should market watches. then i'm gonna disparage all the ADs and their selling practices. then i'll take some shots at resellers for their business practices and their audacity to make profits when the markets are hot.

once i'm done with all that i'll turn my attention to those supposed waitlists, and then do some complaining about the exhibition models and cases with nothing in them but blinged-out ladies watches.

don't worry, i'll make sure to leave plenty of time to sh!t on all those youtubers, fanboys, and hype beasts out there who don't care about horology and are only in it for the flex and improving their social status.

oh, and don't get me started on quality control and the fact that Rolex doesn't make a specific model that I am 100% sure will be a huge seller despite the fact that i've got zero experience in watch marketing.

i'm sure i left something out, but all it'll take is 30 seconds of scrolling up or down the forum to add a few more whines...

:-)

Sent a general inquiry to my AD regarding a Daytona…in 2021 have bought two Day Dates and a high end GS. So far, not even a response…sigh. To be honest, I don’t know if they really can say anything…if they have nada, what can they say?
Edit: wah wah wah

My AD said the lead time for appraising two Rolex was running at about 4-6 weeks. Today they texted me to say they were ready to collect, only a week after I dropped them off. That's really thrown my plans out. Bloody inconsiderate.

AD in central London told me today that last week alone they received 1500 communication via phone, walk-in and emails, all for as sports models..... They are inundated and in a difficult position with nothing to sell these potential customers.

I'm so pissed at my AD because he got me the exact watch I wanted exactly one month after I asked for it, so now I have nothing to complain about!

I typically move on to complaining about the wait time for the next model I want immediately after I walk out of the AD with the one they just delivered...just food for thought

So spoiled being in NYC. I honestly can't relate to 99% of the horror stories I read on TRF.

I visit different watch stores frequently -- WEMPE, Bucherer, Breguet, Blancpain, Omega, Breitling, AP, Richard Mille, etc. and I'm always treated very well. SAs and Managers are always polite and professional. Always offered refreshments. Many times, greeted by first name - which is mind blowing. And, no, I'm not a VIP by any means.

I'm beginning to believe we just have happen to have the gold standard of jewelry/watch retailers in NYC.

Have to agree with you, I too have been to many of the shops you mention, plus several jeweler/AD’s in the NJ suburbs and have never had a problem. Always friendly, engaging and professional and most of them don’t know me from Adam.

I live in Tokyo and I have a similar experience to you. The boutique people are super nice and always have great conversations with them, not just about watches but generally.

Since I was around the Rolex AD this morning, I popped in for the first time since July 2020.

I fully expected empty cases. Granted, much has changed but it was nice to see the exhibition pieces and they had a Datejust 41, smooth bezel, stick silver dial sitting there waiting for a new owner. I did a double take but there it was. Nice piece but not in the market for one.

Overall, better than expected. I fully expected to look each empty case up and down and then side step to the next one and repeat.

The worst lot of the whiners are the ones that wish upon a financial meltdown in order to purchase a Rolex at RRP.

Fyi, when that happens, the last thing you'd be thinking about is buying a Rolex...

I'd rather have no Rolex and be making decent money than vice versa
