Your thoughts about this 16710

I stumbled upon this piece from 2001.

I'm interested, but it's located on the other side of the country, so I would like a bit or assurance before I make the trip.

What do you generally think of the condition? It has obviously been polished, but personally I think it's a job pretty well done.

Is the bezel insert original? I do not have enough knowledge about 20-year old 16710's to judge that.

Thank you in advance!

Looks like a nice GMT II. The dial and bezel insert appear correct for circa 2001. Good luck with the watch.

It looks just like my 2001 P-serial 16710. From the photos it appears to be a beautiful piece.

It's weird being the same age as old people.

Thanks for the quick replies! Much appreciated. Guess I have a road trip coming up. I'll post an update when it's on my wrist (of when I've passed on it).

Not unpolished and not the best polishing but it looks all right. Bezel insert should be serif - it is a later service insert here. Not a big deal

Thanks! I don't care if it's a service insert. As long as it's OEM.
Plus it has no service papers, so the insert is at least a hint that it has most probably been in the hands of RSC.

Would you mind to elaborate? Much thanks.

My amateur eyes thought the subtle chamfer was a sign of good polishing. Plus the edges don't seem to be overly round.

Very good polishers can do amazing work with cases that look very close to factory finish (brushed lugs, chamfers / bevels). Here it has been polished and we can see it’s not factory finish but still pretty good (brushing on lugs and chamfers / bevels still here)
