Vintage responsiveness.

Anyone notice the difference in responsiveness between a vintage Rolex automatic movement vs a newer Rolex automatic movement? For example, if I slightly move my 72’ sub, the second hand starts moving but it takes much more movement for my newer Rolex models to start ticking. Anyone understand why? Thanks!

Interestingly, I've noticed that too.

Yes, same. I’ve noticed the oldies start ticking with the slightest tickle.

Possibly because the older movements don't quite fully wind down, so easily restart when nudged.

Any vintage experts out there who can help explain this?

The younger generation is inherently lazy and will not perform their contracted functions without overt stimulation and praise. Have you tried telling your new Rolex how excellent it is, just for existing?
