First Rolex, one month in

A long time ago I decided I was going to get a black Sub for my 50th birthday. Being a newbie I had no idea you couldn’t just walk into a dealer and buy one. I started looking at the beginning of the year, got myself on a few waitlists, and a week before my 50th an AD came through with this beauty. No-date Sub at MSRP. I wear it every day. i’ve already been playing with different straps; I can’t believe how versatile it is.
Love, love, love it.

Thanks for sharing. I'm seriously contemplating swapping my sub date maxi case for this no date 41mm.

If availability of all watches was no issue, this would be the watch I’d go for first. I think it looks stunning. Love the black strap on it

I fancy that watch as well but was told by WoS I won’t get it as my first watch from them. As the second watch maybe.

Very nice, OP.

Interesting. I have zero purchase history with my local (much smaller!) AD and he's put me down for new ExpII (black dial) and the new 41mm sub date.

ETA for ExpII is 3-6 months and sub is one year. I got on the waitlist in Aug.

Zero purchase as well = zero watch . I was being realistic so started my roi with an OP41 but has to be silver dial, per SA, to improve my chances of not waiting too long. The building relationship thing was mentioned in my second visit. I got a call yesterday for a 34mm. I went to see it but too big for my wife’s wrist and too small for me so had to politely decline. It was mentioned that i had to build up my profile. This branch is opposite Selfridges so i guess it would be extremely difficult for me to even obtain my first Rolex. I told the SA I am not in a rush and am willing to wait. If I don’t get one at MSRP, so be it.

You are fortunate and I envy you

Lucky you, matey. WoS and Bucherer at Selfridges, took and added my details onto their database. They even showed this to me. Unfortunately for me, both of my Local AD’s are located at Oxford Street London. I work few hundred yards away from these AD’s. I sincerely hope that you get that call soon.

This seems to indicate a strap needs some taper. The rubber looks great but the nato dominates the watch. Maybe due to the camera angle…

Congrats, welcome to the club. Mine is about 10 y.o., from the era in which you walked in the store and bought one.

To be fair it will probably settle back onto the original bracelet when we reach steady state. But so fun to play with it now!
