My go to AD has ‘nada’

Over the years I’ve gotten a couple watches at the Cabo San Lucas ad…(a hulk in 2016 and a milgaus). Went yesterday and there’s not one watch in the displays! When asked what I was looking for I told the salesman ‘a gmt or deep sea’ …..he just glazed over….same story… steel professionals hard to get…..but If I was interested in a date just - he might be able…. Etc. I’d think he had a few tucked away but I don’t think they’d be msrp. Gotta be hard not to do business when you don’t have anything to sell. Talked to another guy at a different place and he discussed the ‘if you get a couple of other brand watches you can get a Rolex’ but that’s crazy, might as well go grey market. Wonder how long is this going to continue because if Rolex is going to or able to get watches out it will hammer the existing market if they don’t raise prices….

Are Rolex, patek and AP the canaries in the upcoming inflation coal mine?

I was on watch hiatus from 2014 - 2019, and it only took me 3 mins looking at the FB groups and this forum to realize what was the current state. I mean it's literally the same 3-5 threads every single day.

It's almost clockwork too (FB). I see somebody posting their Exp 1 "the perfect watch", than follow up with "this or that / should I buy this", pictures/video of empty AD, and my the new favorite... the exhibition models pics.

Business is better than ever for them, they're completely sold out, and incoming orders are pre-sold before they even arrive at the AD. It's the dream life for them right now.

Sad for all of us but you are spot on, Rolex is thoroughly enjoying the current market.

An AD told you that he could get you a Datejust but the price would be over MSRP? Or are you just guessing. Because, that would be extraordinary.

Ultrajewels is notorious for bundling deals. At least in the recent couple of years.

He does have watches for sale, just not for you. He sells them to his buyers who spend a lot of money.

This - unfortunately 2 previous purchases when the market was soft doesn't really cut it any more. Try buying a PM one then the SS may be more available with a wait of some kind. I have 2 previous PMs in last 18 months and still no option of SS pepsi. Other SS available (Daytona excepted) with a wait.

Ultra Jewelers is full of Sh—— . They will now only sell you a Rolex if you bundle. They tried to sell my wife a Rainbow Daytona for market value 3 months ago.
