Everose/Rose Gold the new king?

Okay so as I wait out my seemingly forever and a day wait from my A D on my next RG piece, 116505/116505. I’ve noticed that not only has demand/popularity gone through the roof so has pricing on the Grey market.

But let’s take a look at what I’ve found

The ever popular anniversary dial DayDate.

White gold models in the 50’s. Rose gold models in the 70’s

Daytona 116509 even the Blue dial, 50’s. Rose gold 116505 no matter what dial it’s the same as DayDate. In the 70’s. Even the oysterflex models have significant differences.

My favorite the Skydweller. Yellow gold/white gold, 50’s. Rose gold, upper 60’s-70’s. Same differences even on oysterflex.

GMT 126719 versus 126715 are the closest in price differences but yet Rose gold still higher. Other than the meteorite dial of course. Yachtmaster seem to be similar though. I believe that covers all references with full Rose gold as an option.

So as a long time Rolex owner/fan I know fads/hype/trends change with the times as well as pricing but as I sit here and wait I think to myself “What the hell has happened” with all this Rose Gold insanity. Used to be Rose Gold always sat and sat. Any thoughts from my fellow TRF members other than the usual hype replies. Whatever it is can someone make it stop so I can get my call

And yes I guess I’m partly to blame. I’m a Rose gold fan. Just trying like hell to complete a hat trick with these 2 so I can call it a wrap! TT covered. SS covered. Rose gold, missing one.

Amazing watches - I love their look and have gotten close to pulling the trigger a few times - but unfortunately don't look good on me

Rose Gold is the hot one right now.

In fact what I am seeing is that colored gold in general is making a HUGE resurgence.

Yellow Gold these days is also red hot

Omg yes. What I’d do for a Chocolate dial 505/515!!

Other than pay these Grey prices

I mean if I’m honest I’m okay with paying a premium but I have my limits. The 515 is selling for 50’s and up with MSRP at 29k USD and the 505 pushing 70k plus with MSRP at 39k USD. Those premiums are just nuts. I’d “consider” 10k especially with tax savings but jeez not 20-30k extra

I think you have answered your own question right there. It's not just about the rose gold, dial matters a whole lot in the valuation on the grey market.

Good point and I agree. But to your point all the dials are somewhat nuts.

DD with anniversary and Chocolate, nuts. Sun dust not quite as bad but still up there. Even the classic white dial.

Daytona chocolate the highest but even the black/champagne sub dials and the reverse/sun dust still has its premiums.

Guess it just boils down to the fact the every dial in Everose is beautiful and in high demand. Can’t really think of a dial configuration that isn’t.

And don’t even get me started on the meteorite Daytona. That’s on a whole other planet. Guess in the meantime I can just enjoy what I have but jeez I want another

RG looks much classier than YG, IMO. I find full YG watches (with bracelets) to be ostentatious on a man.

All subjective, of course.

RG is definitely hot. Lately I’m preferring YG which is also heating up considerably.

RG has always been more expensive on the market, you are not the only one

I like RG a lot because it looks much better with my skin complexion than YG. Good looking watches you got there.

I love both YG and RG equally it depends on the combinations of dial and bezel.

WG looks the best with Meteorite dial.

Like the RG. Wish Rolex had more two tone RG options. The Sky dweller would look good as a RG TT.

This would be tremendous. I’ve been dreaming of a TT RG SkyD with a slate dial.

Hell, I wish they made the TT RG DJ 41 in this configuration like they do the 36. Beautiful watch but too small for my wrist/stature. Hope for one every release date but no luck so far.

I personally like YG over RG, but no doubt, RG is commanding high premiums. I gave full RG a try and wasn’t to my liking vs YG. RG on strap however….I’d much prefer it, especially in the PP lineup.

No doubt RG is red hot right now and maybe continue to command the premium but YG will always be king, has been for thousands of years.

I’m guessing that you are referring to popularity for resale value or just overall appeal to the most people

That’s probably true but it’s a very personal preference. I went for RG and WG for my PM watches because I prefer the look to YG and I think that they look better against my skin. Nothing wrong with YG at all but not for me.

I think you and others have brought up a good point with how RG looks with certain skin tones but for me it was all about "loudness"

I have tried on many yellow gold models and they always seemed a tad loud. Thats just my opinion. Where as RG despite its pink/copperish look it seems to blend in better.

Dont get me wrong before I tried on RG and only had pics to go by I thought there's no way that's for me but as soon as I started trying them on it was quite the opposite. Fell in head over heels. I can only imagine how sick a RG Daytona incoming will be. For now all I can do is that, imagine. Hopefully sometime in 2022
