Why is 10:10 considered to be more attractive than 1:50?
Hands are in the same position at both times but obviously with the hour and minute hands reversed.
The only reason I can think is that people generally see the hours hand on the left side of the watch while awake….for example, if people are awake from 7am to 11pm generally…that’s 16 hours of being awake and only during 6 of those hours will the hour hand be on the right side of the watch (noon to 6pm). Thoughts. It’s about 1:50pm right now in PST :) |

Not thought about it but could it not be that we see time as rather linear and the minute hand is more prominent at the 10/11 position as it moves round the right of the dial whereas past 6 it is working to the next hour.

hands at 10:10 have the added benefit of creating a classic "check" mark with a positive upward slope, further reenforcing things being "ok," and "good to go."
since the typography reads left to right, having the longer hand on the right creates better symmetry and forward momentum on the dial as well. |

I’m sure an argument could have been made for either/or originally but now-a-days it’s more a matter of tradition.

When on stage, your left hand is the visually dominant one (right visually for the audience). General human preference.
