To answer your question:

The launch of the Patek Tiffany Nautilus and subsequent insane auction result of $6.5 million created a strong ripple effect on the OP41 Turquoise (Tiffany) and to a lesser extent the OP36 version.

Although the initial crazy OP Turquoise prices have settled, they have only come down to a level about 3x higher than the grey price prior to the hype bubble.

This hype is now cascading down through the colour palette with rapidly increasing asking prices seen for the yellow, coral and green roughly in that demand hierarchy.

The silver, black and blue have been relatively untouched by all of this although there has been modest price appreciation.

I am watching with interest and amusement as the humble Turquoise OP41 tries to go toe to toe with legends like the 116500.

Well said.

This is what I thought would happen when the Turquoise OP41 catapulted in price; the other color dials would have to follow suit in some proportion.

These are actually my three favorite dials for the current OP41 reference.

I noticed the recent price surge on the Yellow, Coral and Green as well… Seems to have happened in the last week that the prices went up roughly $8-10k. Crazy times.

Yeah, have to start realizing that it’s all about the dials and the Op41’s have dials that are unique and different from all the others. Hence prices go up!

Anyone who would pay $18K-$35K for an OP is insane. The watch retails for $5800.

Definitely agree. I would humbly wait on a list until a call - this is hitting pre-owned PM/Lange/Trinity money.

Retails for $5800 to whom??? In late January of last year I bought a Turquoise OP 41 for $12k from DavidSW because I had failed to be placed on three different AD waitlists.

Are you talking about MSRP or grey/secondhand market? MSRP pricing officially went up on January 1st. I suspect you are now seeing that relay into the grey market prices?

The delta between the MSRP uplift and the secondary surge is massive.

For these prices you are better off buying a GMT. Seems like priced went up last week on the Green,Yellow,And Coral. The turquoise cooled off.

I got a 41mm OP green from the AD when it came out, it simply did nothing for me and in all honesty the finishing under a loop was poor even for its retail price point and the dial was flat and not that appealing . As such because there was so much demand I traded it about a year ago for an amazing condition five digit sub. These are ok 5-6k watches and anyone paying more that that … well …. It simply makes no sense to me.

I think the silver OP41 is the sleeper hit. It's the only unique dial in the lineup. 1 off's are always great collectibles. I think the 2-tone look is also becoming more trendy now that bright colors are on the way out.

Completely agree with this. Use of brown plots above the hour indices, gold accents. It’s the only version of the current color list that is truly unique.

True but that's coulda woulda shoulda, and personally I like the patina's pre ceramics far more than any modern sub. More importantly I ended ups with a Neo-vintage watch (1993 16610 full set) I absolutely love and wear constantly for $6.9K CAD (so what $5K USD) that I've enjoyed now for the year. Not sure of the 41mm green's current market value (just checked and there's about a $1K CAD delta between the two watches in favour of the OP).

Just for reference, now IMO one's an absolute iconic Rolex classic and the others an OP:

Hi all. IMO, these OP colors won't stay permanent on the rolex catalog and will be discontinued at some point. Maybe this year? 2 to 3 years from now? Who knows. But low AD supply is not helping and a lot of one time buyers and serious collectors snatching these at the grey market which is driving the prices really high. I'm personally liking it as I'm waiting for my call on an OP36 green dial which my AD said it is coming in the next month or two.
