Favorite Rolex moment in a movie??
Mine is from Rocky III.
Paulie is upset with Rocky's success. Rocky bails out Paulie from jail. Paulie says how Rocky never gave him anything BUT this "Ex-Lax Watch"..& throws it away, saying it never kept good time!! LOL!!! |

When Tom Cruise snaps the Day-Date off his wrist outside the pawnshop in Las Vegas so he can use the seed money to stake his brother to count cards at Caesar's Palace to save his business in the movie "Rain Man"

Two of my favorite Rolex movie scenes involve Vegas and pawn shops. This scene, and the one from Leaving Las Vegas when Cage pawns off his Daytona. That scene hurts.

You see in Rocky II a very financially illiterate Rocky on the town spending money like a drunk sailor, and you see him purchasing a Rolex for himself and Adrian and decides to get one for Paulie as well. That's the prequel. The sequel is in Rocky Balboa where Rocky figures out Paulie was laid off and didn't retire as he claimed. So he says don't they give retirees a watch instead of meat, and Paulie gets upset and says he has a watch, you gave me a watch! So it appears that after the scene you reference in Rocky III, they did retrieve the watch even after Paulie kicked it into a corner. And Paulie continued to wear it. |

Mine is probably the ending of Red Heat. Belushi trades his Rolex Datejust "$1000 marvel of Western engineering" for Arnold's $20 East German watch.

There are many I could recall. However the OG for me is every scene featuring Moore's Submariner in 'Live and Let Die'.
I wanted one from the moment I saw it when I was about 5, I didn't know what a Rolex was, no idea, but I wanted James Bond's watch. 23 years later I got it (or closest new thing), a new 14060M. |

In an old episode of "Night Court," (ok it's a tv show and not a movie, but bear with me) Mac gets a large inheritance and spends some of it on a Rolex for Dan. Dan reads the heartfelt inscription Mac had engraved on the back, pauses for a moment, then slams the watch into his glass of ice water and shakes the whole glass vigorously for a few seconds. When he pulls the watch out and sees that it's still running, he lets out a shocked, "it's real!!"

Sean Connery, in "Goldgfinger"...during the pre-title sequence, he plants a bomb at a bad guy's lair, sets the time with the assistance of a Submariner on striped nylon strap (not a NATO, but similar look), which is worn on the outside of his wetsuit.
He later sheds the wetsuit...and has a white dinner jacket underneath... He goes into a nightclub...and uses his cigarette lighter to illuminate the Rolex, on the nylon strap, on his wrist, under the cuff of his evening shirt. Of course, he's figuring how long till detonation... |

LOL. That was one of my earliest memories of Rolex on TV. It put into my mind the indestructible nature of the tool watch as a kid. Thanks for the memory!

I like the scene in Dr. No when James Bond is sitting on the dive boat, gathering together his equipment for the island. He needs to test the accuracy of the Geiger counter, so he sweeps the wand over his 6538 big crown sub. The radium lume sets off the needles and he casually remarks that the radium paint is radioactive.
I saw so many subs in James Bond movies over the years. They all sparked my passion for Rolex as a kid. Sent from my SM-G986U using Tapatalk |

For satire, two scenes from Die Hard.
First, when Ellis says "It's a Rolex." And second, when John unhooks the Rolex from Holly's wrist and Gruber goes flying.
