resizing a 93150 bracelet for a small wrist (suggestions welcomed)
Dear fellow TRF members,
I recently acquired a sub with the original 93150 bracelet from the early 80s. My wrist is quite small and although I resized it to fit my wrists by removing links ( there are now 5X5) and adjusting the clasp all the way to the tightest hole, the head of the watch sits unevenly on my wrist as does the clasp. I read somewhere that some recommend having an AD or RSC remove one of the permanent links from the 6 o'clock side, however, wouldn't that technically not work since the links taper from 20mm at the lugs to 16 at the clasp? Also would doing this damage the collectability of the original bracelet? Would it be better to buy another bracelet on ebay and have that one tampered with? Thoughts and suggestions warmly welcomed!

I would like to pose this same question out to the guys out there..
I bought an SD for my wife but cant seem to get the darn thing small enough...removing the divers extension barely made a difference. I've also heard about people removing permanent links. is this really possible? and how would it be done? I'm guessing removing a permanent link is a permanent removal? Or can they be put back on in the future? Any input would be great. Thanks |

Links taper down to the size of the last permanent link....after that, they are all the same..
Removing a permanent link is virtually unnoticeable.. Buying another screw link and the bracelet is back to the same exact size as originally. On the latest bracelets, they now use an additional screw link on the 6 o'clock side so bracelets can be taken down to 4 links........ removing a permanent link is already done for you now on the Daytona, GMTII, etc.... They just pull apart........although it is a tight press fit and unless you are very very good, or very lucky, it usually ends up in marring the one removed and it will either need to be refinished or tossed........ they will press back together and with a small drop of loctite, become permanent once again..

You could also buy a 78360 oyster bracelet for about $600 BNIB. The clasp is a quarter inch shorter if that helps....plus removing a few permanent links wont kill the value of the watch.

I (female) have a very small wrist, I took the number of links down to 5 on each side but then both the watch and the clasp were out of centre. I then turned the band around, attaching the six o'clock side of the band to the 12 o'clock side of the watch and vice versa and now it's perfect.
