Box and papers
Hi everyone,
I thinking to buy pre own Rolex Explorer because I can have very good deal. But there is only watch without box and papers. I know that the box I can buy on eBay but my question is can I do something to get the paperwork. Anyways I will buy the watch but I would like to complete my set. I know that Breitling can authorize your watch and give you papers if you lost them, so can I do something similar with Rolex? I saw the watch today and it’s in very good condition but my dealer told me that they only receive the watch and it’s nothing that they can do for me. Also watch have full service and it’s working correctly. I’m just worrying about papers and card. |

You can't get a new card from Rolex. What you can do is get the watch serviced and Rolex will give a two year warranty. They obviously won't work on a non authentic watch so you get that peace of mind as well.

Agree - and another benefit of doing service with RSC is they won’t work on a stolen watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Box and papers
As long as the service records seem accurate from a known watchmaker you are probably in good shape.
Post some photos here and you will get good feedback. |

No you cannot get new papers. Having the watch serviced at an RSC and receiving a service ‘card’ is not the same as having the original papers and have no added value.
Ask yourself why you can get a good deal in the current market ? Ever tried selling a watch recently without the original paperwork ? All that doesn’t matter if you buy it to wear it forever

Was the service performed by RSC or an independent watchmaker? If it was done by RSC, the dealer should be able to give you the paperwork showing the service and the warranty.

Nope, no dealer can reproduce or help you obtain original papers for a Rolex watch. Shouldn’t be a problem if you purchase from a reputable dealer.
I purchased my Exp.II 16570 without papers. I trust the dealer, I’ve done business with them since before this craze. When the time comes, I’ll simply send it to the RSC for service and I’ll get a warranty card from them. If something is not right, the RSC will let me know and I’m sure the dealer will make it right. |

As long as you're sure about the authenticity, box and papers are a "nice to have" only. I'd never let that stop me.

If you are very sure that you will not sell the watch in future then it’s fine to purchase without papers. If otherwise, my own experience tells me papers are very important.

Do check the year from the serial number and bracelet. Do a few checks for the authenticity of the watch. I bought a 2004 Explorer II without papers but it had a service certificate dated 2017.
If your seller is giving you a service warranty then go right ahead - after performing the checks. Otherwise you might have to go in with some leap of faith. Box is highly redundant, value of Rolex hardly appreciates or depreciates without the box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Excellent question. Try paragraphs. They are your friend.

If the watch was serviced at a RSC you are on safe ground. If not, you must 100% buy the seller before you even consider the watch.
This is why you should probably be looking for another one. |

Most eBay boxes are fakes.
