Best Way To Clean This Solid Gold Yachtmaster?

What would be the best way to bring this watch back to life? Can it be wiped down and cleaned with a certain solution or does it need a polish to remove all the tarnish/stains and revive its luster? Or is this considered patina and should never been removed?

I would say it could do with a complete overhaul. Nasty dent in one of the lugs too

Oh wow you’re right. I didn’t even notice that.

What do you think an RSC overhaul would cost on this watch?

Isn't this a simple polish job and movement service?

I believe the bezel is platinum.

I agree that only Rolex should do a complete service. I would love to see the outcome.

I believe an RSC would give you an estimate after inspection prior to starting work. It will be expensive so prepare yourself.

Platinum? With a gold plating?

I’m thinking about buying it and trying to think through what it would cost to refurbish.

Ask a company like LA Watchworks: https://www.instagram.com/losangeleswatchworks.

I am probably wrong. I thought Yacht-Masters had platinum bezel inserts, but maybe just on the SS models.

If you are thinking about buying it, I would say hard pass due to condition and authenticity concerns.

Yes, it’s a 69628. Seller is a jewelry in Texas. They are well known and have thousands of transactions selling authentic pre owned Rolexes.

The bracelet hallmarks are there and as expected.
I also would expect the ladies date wheel to have the thick fonts like this.
The watch is an authentic ladies 18k YM that has been sitting around for a while from what I see.
Nothing a small visit from a Cape Cod Polishing Cloth can’t help clean up.
If the movement is ok I see a lot of potential others are not seeing in this watch.
Be your own judge but if the price is right I would not have a problem with it.

that poor watch...was it hidden under some construction zone? I have tried the nano cleaning wipes and they worked fine for me -im not sure if that would work well for this condition

Best Way To Clean This Solid Gold Yachtmaster?

Fake watch in my opinion. Buy a polish cloth off amazon and make it shine. You could also try goo gone. Spray on then rinse over and over to try to gently take the tarnish off.

Try washing it in dishwashing solution and tooth brush or using some Wristclean on it. Wristclean did wonders on the crap built up on my Pt bezel insert on my YM. I thought it was tarnish and turned out to be grunge.

Concur. As long as the crown appears to screw down snugly and the back is on tight, a soft bristle toothbrush, Dawn dish detergent and warm but not hot water will do wonders for any Rolex. I don't dunk mine, but rather get them wet from a faucet at a gentle half flow, then scrub them gently with the toothbrush, then back under the water to rinse. Then it's onto a microfibre towel and pat dry, then a hair dryer on medium to finish it off and get all the water out of the nooks and crannies. It's flat amazing how good they look after.

Clean my wife's jewelry the same way and have for years.

But, this one looks like it's due for a full service at an RSC. Plan on spending $1000 if nothing needs replaced but it's well worth the $$$ and will come back to you with a 2 year service warranty.

Before polishing or sending in try this old jewellers trick. Aluminum foil, baking soda, salt, and hot water are the supplies you need.

Get salt, baking soda and aluminum foil together to create an ion transfer (a chemical exchange) that naturally helps clean metals.

Mix together 3 tablespoons salt, 3 tbs baking soda, tear foil into small pieces and place in glass bowl. Mix in about a cup of hot (not boiling) water. Place the watch in the bowl for about 10-12 min maximum. Remove and dry with a simple cloth.

Repeat if necessary. This till give you an idea on whether it’s dirt or a reaction to humid storage or body sweat etc.
