Not a lot of people know that ! - The useless but interesting thread.
I'll start.
Sun titbits. The "daylight" that takes just 8 minutes to travel the 93,000,000 miles from the Sun to reach us takes a rather more hefty quarter of a million years to travel from the Sun's core to the surface, whereby the photons escape and travel at "the speed of light". The temperature of the Sun's plasma core, while being almost 2,500 times the temperature of the surface, still produces far far less (maybe 500,000 times less) heat per kilogram than the human body. It's bloody big though and that accounts for how it powers everything in the solar system. Also created by the hydrogen->helium nuclei fusion process are Neutrinos. These little buggers don't whizz around in the plasma soup for 250,000 years since they have no (or possibly almost no) mass. These travel through you at a rate of 10,000,000,000 per centimetre per second, then through the earth and then through someone else on the other side of the world and off on their travels.

A mole of atoms is 6.022 x 10 23 of said atom.
I've always thought that was kinda funny - chemistry humor.

I've thrown this out before but have limited knowledge of things in general so here we go again:
It's a fact, though poorly understood, that red-headed people usually require more anesthetic than non-redheads to get adequate pain relief for dental or surgical procedures. They may also bleed more due to different clotting factors. So, if you're a natural redhead and think you're a wimp about pain, it's not all in your head! |

A young man with whom I went to high school had one brown eye and one light blue eye. I was fascinated by this and had never seen anyone prior to Craig with two different colored eyes, so I did a bit of research. It seems that probability of this occurrence = < .00001! Moreover, "Heterohchromia Iridium" in medical jargon is caused by different amounts of melanin in each iris, and may be attributed to a congenital anomaly, trauma and certain medical problems, e.g., Waardenburg Syndrome. (In Craig's case, it was congenital.)
I am interested in knowing whether anyone else has known a person with this condition.

David Bowie's eyes are actually the same colour, although they appear different at a distance. One eye was permanently damaged by a ring during a schoolboy fight, and as a result, the pupil is permanently dilated. Apparently, he can still see through it, but the vision is blurred and brown

The most common birthdate is October 5th. The reason being that nine months before that is New Years Eve ;)
So if you were born around then, we know what your parents were doing that night! |

If you have 3 quarters, 4 dimes, and 4 pennies, you have $1.19. You also have the largest amount of money in coins without being able to make change for a dollar.

Three right makes it left, or is it three left makes it right? But I know for sure, that if you don't make any of those three, you'll endup straight.

Some toothpastes and deodorants contain the same chemicals found in antifreeze.

the spanish word for dog is "perro"...but if the "R" sound is not rolled as intended by the letter "rr" in the spanish alphabet...then you are actually refering to someone's "ass"

pure honey is the only foodstuff that does not deteriorate, it has been found in the pyramids and was edible. Honey that is produced in your immediate area is supposed to be good for allergy sufferers
