It all depends. Which Rolexes, How much cash, and which exact AP ref and condition ?
I will also add I only like AP's on bracelet. AP Brick keeps me up at night.. LOL |

I mean, if you want to. The issue is with Rolex they hold their value so there are infinite options to trade. Are you chasing a dopamine hit and just want something new? If so, you will trade and then the high of the AP will wear off. And then onto something else. Just because one can, does not mean we should. I would wait 6 months and see what happens to the desire.
What I have learned is that there is not a watch I had and have had many since the 80's where I did not want more or to trade for others. The watches that stay are meaningful in some way. My 16610 is still around because it was gifted to me by my parents and worn more days than not since the late 90's. My H558 because its the watch that got me into watches and my Hamilton because it was gifted to me by my wife in a trip to NYC in 2010. With constantly trading and flipping the watches really never transcend just being "things" or objects. Im not judging that by the way, kind of like cars that one leases for a few years. But they don't have any real meaning or association with us, just kind of fashion. My 16610 is getting to the point where its been with me almost half my life and been with me for birthdays, graduations, my marriage, honeymoon, birth of my kids and funerals. That's real meaning and not the kind that comes with constantly trading. Interestingly, the watches that seem to go for premiums at auction are the ones well lived in, not the untouched cold watches kept in a safe. |

Probably not if the offshore is from a grey dealer. I'd consider selling a couple in order to create buying history at an AP boutique.

I’m sure there’s a scenario where I would.

Which Rolex? How much cash? What else would be left in your collection, or would be one and only?

I can't stand ROs, so this would be an easy one for me.

For that AP? No.
Without knowing all the details of the trade, what Rolex and how much cash, this is impossible to answer.

Would you trade Unknown Watch #1 plus Unknown Watch #2 plus Unknown Amount of Cash for AP Watch?
Ummmm, I imagine you can see the difficulty in giving you a legit answer....

Yes, I would trade any Rolex's to move up to AP and PP. It is a different league. I have personally done it, as well, with no regrets. The pieces are without a doubt more special.

Not a fan of the massive pushers on that AP. However, as others mentioned, largely depends on which watches and how much cash to fund.

Not trying to be a jerk, but this is a ridiculous post with out any detail at all. New Rolex prices can be as low as 6k and as high as 200k… give us something to work with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
