Anyone who only purchased Rolex from AD?
I have no intention of buying Rolex from Grey.
I currently have submariner and am still waiting for my Batman. After Batman, I will probably want to go for SS Daytona (I know, could be years but I guess I will enjoy my two watches until then). No plan on getting solid gold or two-tone models as of yet (things may change later). Just curious, is there anyone who ONLY purchases Rolex from AD? What watches have you gotten from them so far? Also, once I develop a great relationship with my AD (with 2 purchase history of sub and GMT - absolutely no intention of selling), will it be reasonable/possible to ask SS Daytona as a 3rd watch? |

I have a similar collection that is all from ADs. The Batman and Sub are definitely doable. The Daytona will be very difficult.

It's certainly possible to ask for a daytona, why not? It is unlikely that you will get one from a SS GMT and SS sub purchase history alone though. However, it depends how much your AD likes you.
Sub, BLRO, DJ41, OP41, TT DJ31 purchase history from AD. I don't think I would be able to get a SS daytona in today's market conditions. However, to be fair, I never expressed serious interest for one as I did for the others. |

I have 19 Rolexes including YG Daytona green dial, WG GMT meteorite dial, RG Day-Date olive dial and many SS sport models, all of them from my Boutique/AD.
I think I am very lucky with Rolex. |

When you buy that many I’d say it’s your right to buy whatever the hell you want. Not luck but respect. |

Lmao, you expect them to give you a Daytona because you blessed them by buying watches that they could sell to anyone else in a second?
Might want to rethink your strategy. |

I’ve only gotten “hot” models from my AD and intend to take the same strategy in awaiting my SS Daytona, without buying a bunch of unnecessary jewelry while waiting. My AD has always taken care of me and I have time to kill. It’s not as ridiculous as you might think.

Not ridiculous but i would push you to the back of the line each time someone is willing to buy jewelry or other brands. Unless it’s a Rolex boutique. You never know at a boutique. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I do as I couldn’t afford grey prices. A BLRO and a Z-Blue is what I have. A Daytona would likely take a while as the demand is high but a BLNR should be a reasonable wait.

My sig line. I also have a LV Sub going to be hitting at some point in the next couple months per my SA.
I would honestly skip the Daytona. Its small and illegible. My least favorite in the line up by far. |

The Daytona, obviously not for you but for most, is the most attractive Rolex model. Generally speaking, more complicated watches, say Lange Datograph or a Patek grand complication area considered “more beautiful” vs a “simple watch.” It’s like comparing a Ferrari (Daytona) vs a SUV (Sub/GMT). Yes, the SUV is more practical (Ferraris are not the best for a Costco run) but it is no where as attractive or as fun as a Ferrari. Sure, the Ferrari is more intricate and fussy … but there is no denying it’s sex appeal. Same with the Daytona. Wear One for a week and you’ll get it. BTW, the Daytona is not a small watch. I have a 7.25”/18.4 cm wrist and it is perfect! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

What I’ve noticed is that Daytona is visually smaller looking in person. It’s a strange thing. Holding it in your hands, it looks small. However, once on the wrist, you can see from pictures that it looks perfect! The exact thing happened as I tried on an exhibition model: visually small but not tiny or weird looking, but perfect as I was checking it on our my wrist in the mirror.

When you see a watch in person, on an average wrist +/-, almost all watches work since it's 3D and you can see how the lugs curve around the wrist. You also aren't putting your face right against the watch which is what the camera lens does. It comes down to comfort. I always thought the Sub/BB41 was "huge" for my wrist but really its not in person. On camera, looks like there is over hang. In person, not at all. |

I have a video showing the Daytona on my 7.25"/18.4cm wrist from a bit of a distance so you can get a good visual. Goto approximately 5:20 on this video: https://youtu.be/A5N1GUUMpIc |

To answer the OP, I have three now. Two bought AD, one was a graduation gift many years ago. I'd only buy AD unless below msrp. I also don't NEED a watch that bad to over pay IMO. |

Only AD. 2017 Batman, 2018 Hulk, 2021 Pepsi, DJ RG41 Wimbledon. So just need to be patient and let them know you are genuine. Was a bit long wait between my Hulk and pepsi but my patience has been paid off.

2003 Sub Date 2005 TT Yatchmaster Blue 2006 Sub Date 2016 OP 34 Blue 2016 Sub Date LV 2019 WG Sub 2020 Sub Date 41 The last three came from the same AD. Should have kept all of them. But I don’t have that kind of disposal income. |

Over the past 25yrs:
6 = AD (2 recent) 2 = Grey (when prices were lower than MSRP) I sort of refuse paying for anything over MSRP but that’s me and IMHO, nothing is urgent about buying a timepiece. |

From what I've seen, its more about the $ amount spent than the number of purchases. Once you've hit the $100k mark you should be able to get access to the harder to get pieces.

I only purchase from AD/Boutiques. 2013 116523, 2014 214270, 2015 116520. I was at the mall with my dad and went to the AD and I was talking to them about how after I bought my dad the 116523 I wanted another Daytona SS white dial. A few minutes later the gentleman brought it out for me along with a Platona. Amazing experience. I also had no prior relationship with this AD. It never hurts to ask. You might just get lucky and they may have one sitting in the back. I'm also looking for a 116500LN but definitely not paying over MSRP and have the patience to wait it out until one becomes available. I'm not in a rush for anything.
