Yachtmaster

I am going to buy a Yachtmaster Platinum, and I have looked at several watches, but I'm still not clear on the serial #'s. What is the difference between the 'Y' Ser. # and the 'M' Ser. #. I want to but a NIB Watch, and I want the newest one available. Also, any suggestions on where to buy? Ebay? This Forum? AD? Any help is greatly appreciated as I am new to the Forum, and a first time Rolex purchaser. Thanks.

"Y" and "M" are the same except for the printing around the inner bezel ring (rehaut) which says rolexrolexrolex on the "M".

I think the most recent YM has a new clasp ('V' serial).

The newest one I have seen so far is M serial. I'm not surprised if V is already out in some AD's. If the newer one gets the new bracelet then get that otherwise there is no difference mechanically since this model came out

"V" is the latest serial, although you're more likely to find a "M". I haven't heard of the platinum YM changing clasps. If it had, I would expect the price would have gone up if it did.

By the way, the best price would be from one of the trusted sellers on this forum.

Mmmm not sure, I thought the new clasp was being applied, and it did mean a slight price rise (the darn thing is already very expensive).
