I read your post in Jerry Seinfeld’s voice.

So I’ll answer in Costanza’s voice- “They’re available baby! All day long! Walk in and buy! Close enough!”

A Tudor is a Rolex. Same company. You're on the internet, look it up.

You can't buy many things today which are not badge engineered, or one of several brands all belonging to one company. Wilsdorf was one of the first to spin two brands out of one watch company, as opposed to the situation today when it is more common for brands to merge into one company.

So you don't like Tudor watches? Fair enough. Not everybody does. People are different, choice and diversity is good.

Anything else we can help you with?

A Tudor is a watch company owned by Rolex. It definitely is not a Rolex and not close to the quality of a Rolex. It is basically an entry level watch with the thought that you will move on to a Rolex model eventually. It is like calling a Toyota a Lexus.

From the net:

Montres TUDOR SA is a Swiss manufacturer of luxury wristwatches based in Geneva, Switzerland. Registered in 1926 by Hans Wilsdorf, the founder of Rolex, the brand remains a sister company to Rolex, both companies being owned by the Hans Wilsdorf Foundation.

My understanding is that they are sibling entities owned by the Wilsdorf Foundation. Neither owns the other.

Having said that, Rolex will no doubt opine on Tudor’s new designs and I dare say that the 2012-2015 BB ETA bracelet was thought to be too similar to Rolex’s own and thus the rivets arrived. Interestingly there are no rivets on the Pelagos which supports the view that the non-rivet BB ETA bracelet gave an overall impression that was considered too similar to the Submariner.

It's like Lexus and Toyota or Acura and Honda or Infiniti and Nissan etc. It's really not that hard to understand.

So, I will disagree slightly with this analogy for two reasons:

1. Rolex came first, then Tudor. With the big three Japanese automakers, and their luxury lines, it was the opposite.

2. Neither is a rebadge of the other. Yes, there is plenty of shared development work, and overall styling, but you won't find a Rolex that is a Tudor with a crown stuck on its dial.

More like Cadillac and Oldsmobile (when both were still around, and both were still good).

Ha, yours is the same question FPJ or pp or ap folks might ask about Rolex. Out of a large Rolex collection, the BB58 has a front row slot. Extremely high value watch; good quality; no worries on wearing it super hard; impeccable accuracy; great fit and size. Amazing 60-click bezel; risk taker maker like the 925; etc etc. But I don’t expect to convince you of anything; you’re like I was couple decades back in collecting. it took me 25 years to figure out how cool a snowflake was.

Aesthetically, not my favorite brand either. It's the ugly snowflake hand that turns me off hard.

I have a BB Harrods and I love the snowflakes. Really distinctive, unmistakable and adds character. More distinctive than, say, my Explorer II…

Now, if only they could make them a tad thinner…
