Tudor 925 second defect in a row?
So I bought a Tudor 925 about 8 weeks ago. Absolutely love the form factor, the brushed silver is amazing looking and it really is a stunning watch. When I got it home I noticed a spec under the crystal and low and behold it needed warranty service. The next day I dropped it back off and now 8 weeks later I get it back and the hands are a definite different color than the markers. So maybe I am being OCD but I feel like I may need another trip back to the AD. Here is a few pics of the watch and some reference ones for sale online. Any other 925 owners have the same issue? Btw lume in a dark room does match, so it is almost as of the marker hands have constant lume to them in any light.
So what do you think? Worthy of a trip back to AD or I am crazy and should move on? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Interesting. I could swear we had another thread like this about the Black Bay in the last few months.

Not OCD, I’d take it back. That’s just weird.

What a nightmare OP, sorry to see that you’re suffering with what should have been a grail and absolutely perfect from day 1.

Def would bother me and be going back.
At this point I’d want another watch. Too much fondling for a new watch for me. |

Never even thought about it that way! Also bought the leather hybrid strap to go with it! Maybe that is what I should do. Ask for a replacement. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You shouldn’t be without your watch for 16 weeks for their QC issues… such a headache.
I’d just be respectful and ask if it’s a possibility to just get a new watch. I’m sure they will take care of you. |

I'd be fuming. That's not a QC issue. IDK what that is.

If this was purchased at a proper AD (not grey), then at this point I would want a refund or another watch altogether. These things are "luxury" purchases and the amount of time lost and anxiety should already be owed back to you.

It was purchased at an official AD. So as such I will be going there tomorrow asking for a new version. It is not their fault, they get what they get, but I should also get a good timepiece from the factory. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Don't know if its the same for Tudor but even Rolex dont make there own watch hands for any of there watches all hands are made by a firm called Aiguilles. And lume is just paint and when it dries its possible slight colour changes, but as long as its glows the same as hour plots why worry.

AD had no desire to exchange it, even had a new one on display, but I must say there was not a huge difference with that one either. I am Wondering if they put more lume on the hands purposely. Here is a picture although hard to say in Jewelry store lighting. I will say in person the new one was better but still didn’t match directly the markers. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

In theory this is a lovely watch. Always wanted one, then I saw one in a display case at Amsterdam schiphol airport and it had tarnished under the display lights. This particular model seems to be throwing up a lot of bug bears. At this price point and brand experience you’d expect this attention to detail to be ironed out

I rarely buy watches new but Tudor was the only watch I ever bought that didn't run, right out of the store. Was in Hawaii and when I got back to the room is had stopped.
I was sent a new one within a few days but I got the feeling that Tudor perhaps had quality control issues and have never bought one since. The thing is every watch company can have some that slip through the cracks.

It will be my only option but not sure what RSC will say? AD was concerned they wouldn’t warranty it saying it’s within the margins. I have enough watches I will probably send it and wait again to wear it, and just wear others tho. I can’t unsee it now!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do you by any chance have a picture of the 925 next to a SS watch? I'm curious how the compare. Does the 925 have a warmer or softer look to it?

My guess is that the hands all have slight variations in tone/color, and Tudor tries to match the hands together as best a possible.
But this might mean that between different sets of hands, no two sets might be exactly alike, thus the difference when you got your watch back. Perhaps they swapped out the hands for one reason or another. I know Rolex will do that with your Rolex at a RSC when they service a watch, unless you specifically tell them not to. They did that with my Day Date, hands and crown. Was pissed, but nothing I can do now. |

One of the problems with brands being able to sell out everything is that they give less f***s about the customer.

On the other hand, they will someday call that the Mark 2 hands and it will command a premium.

I have noticed this several times on Tudor and Rolex watches. There's no color mismatch going on here.
The lume on the dial is painted the colored dial, making it more opaque; the lume on the hands will not get the same effect since it's "free floating", with nothing behind them. Put a paper on a table and hold it to a window, and you'll get my point. |
