There is a great comedy routine about the new weight loss fad. Eat less, move more.

I’m currently in the cutting phase again. I tend to fluctuate 10lbs as the balance is tough for me. But I’m learning.

It's the easiest thing in the world to know. You learn your body's resting metabolic rate, account for exercise, and count all calories consumed (this will involve measuring/weighing your foods).

And that's 'the easiest thing'? LMAO. Okay. How many calories will put me into a deficit. Thanks.

As Dr. Laura used to say, eat less and move more!
I’ve been modifying my diet as I age, and enjoy watching and reading about nutrition and exercise (in addition to actually exercising and dieting). Anyone watch or listen to Dr. Peter Attia? He seems very credible and knowledgeable. |

Not only that, but the cravings for carbs and garbage food when drinking and also the morning after. It's becoming just about impossible to drink and stay in shape after 50. If not for college football, I'd be on the wagon permanently.

I guess I always figured eating sweets did the same thing, which now that I think of it, many alcohol beverages are It’s funny but this thread points to how there is no one single approach that works for everyone. I’m 6’2 and weigh 170 lbs. most would consider me “skinny”, I prefer to think of it as svelte , however I do enjoy my libations, pasta and sweets. My trick, might be good genetics, but IMHO it’s discipline… I don’t overindulge. That said, this thread has covered a myriad of weight loss approaches and it seems to me, that what works for some doesn’t work for others. Anyway, to me it all boils down to moderation in what you consume. |

You can do whatever you want. Eat whatever you want. Just not too much of it. We tend to say…”boy this is great, let’s do more of it”. But doing it in moderation will keep most issues in check. I’m not good at moderation. But I’m working on it.

My "problem" has always been sweets. I tried going cold turkey and giving them up entirely many years ago. It was SO tough, and what I found was that I just craved in other ways (usually carbs or bourbon ). I realize now that I can't deny myself some indulgences ... I just have to keep them in check.
