Ashes
The oldest rivalry in cricket begins today and I for one can't wait until the first bounce from what I hope is sunny Cardiff. Who else will be watching and who do you think will win?

I have enjoyed watching cricket for years but now find my enjoyment spoiled by this inssesant chant and continual trumpet blowing. Please ask your mates to stop it. I would be good to get back to the old days when cricket was .... cricket. Yup, 674/6 declared looks useless to me.

I will be watching Milan Really hard to judge. Australia are starting with a bowling attack that has not played in a Test in England before, the loss of Brett Lee could be crucial. I think both sides will struggle to bowl each other out on a good wicket unless it takes spin. Australia don't seem to have a decent spinner but England (if both play) have two good ones.
Bizarre first test is in Wales, chosen because England have a bad record against Australia in the first test at Lords. Ponting seems under a lot of pressure from Oz. Flintoff has a lot to prove as he has been dining out too often on the glories of 2005, same with Harmison (who is not playing in first test). Going to be a fascinating start. |

Old Harmy has been bowling well...shame he was dropped.
(I'd have left monty out of the 1st as he can be a liability with the bat). Both Fred and KP need a good couple of tests to get the country behind them again. I think if our boys sledge Ponting a chuck a couple of full tosses at him, he might crack. J |

What a catch by Mr. Cricket !!
I question the Australian selectors decision not to pick Stuart Clark over Hilfenhaus (despite his wicket) thus removing any experience from the team's attack...It will be interesting English bowlers (with the two spinners) are better than Hauritz and Co but i think our batting is better. |

The draw was the exciting part of it because it was so unexpected. The events in the last overs caused controversy and acres of media coverage. Nothing like a bit of tension and controversy to build on the already keen sporting rivalry between Australia and England.

A draw is as good as a win. Colly and Anderson for Knighthoods Poor old Ponting will be flamed by the press and he doesn't deserve it!!!!!! Hopefully this will give England a kick up the backside for the second test!!!!! Get Harmy in the side for God's sake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! J |

I went out today thinking we were dead and buried. Turned on the TV when I got back in and saw Monty and Anderson battling it out for the last four overs. Could not believe it, the power of sport is its unpredictable nature. Lets hope the rest of the series matches the drama of the first test

Congratulations on your "A draw is as good as a win". My take, on Saturday Oz time, was for a draw. I was just surprised that the English batsmen couldn't even play 'dead ball' for a day as they couldn't win the game. Ponting IMO should have declared earlier as this might have encouraged the English to play and after all he still had an innings up his sleeve. TG for the English weather and a 5 day test. I hope you have better luck next test and let's make it a game this time.

Shame about sending the Physio in so late in the innings, it's not what you'd expect from an England captain. And thank goodness for Colly, Monty and the Lancashire lad Jimmy.
Ponting deserved the Man of the Match award and I hope the home press don't get on his case too much. At the time of the declaration I'm sure 90% of people would have agreed with it. It's only when hindsight sets in that you get the dissenters.
