Both amazing pieces . . . but the nod goes to the Daytona. You have more dial options and the overall aesthetic is more refined. I own a PM Daytona on OF and would choose one every time over YM.

YM rose gold unless you want to be the part of daytona hype. Buy what which speaks to you the most instead of the one where everyone hypes about!

I'll be the contrarian and say Yachtmaster in almost every case (excluding the Platona). This is only taking appearance into consideration, not price, secondary value, rarity, "hype"etc. I do like Daytona's, but I prefer the Yachmaster, AKA "fancier" version of the Sub for it's simplicity and I love the black/rose gold combo.

I actually would also go for the RG YM. Something about the matte black bezel and black dial signs to me.

Daytona because it has the best movement made by Rolex currently inside. The Daytona is also the most comfortable on the wrist and is absolutely stunning. The Daytona is a rock star and it’s hype is backed up by its 4130 movement.

I find the Daytona illegible at a glance. The YM on the other hand is super crisp. Easy choice for me.

For me it depends on orientation. If you're water oriented thrn YM if land and speed then Daytona. Regardless of the hype there is no real bad choice here.

YM RG40 for me. I like the look of the strap to case integration better than the gold end links on the strap. Thinking of trading something for one???

Likely the one that brings a smile to your face.
Actually no...let me take that back. DEFINITELY the one that brings a bigger smile to your face. Everyone else can get lost since it will be your purchase/watch/decision. |

RG Daytona for me. Unexpected call from AD just before Christmas 2022. Love it and I wear the hell out of it!

Well, one is lovely, legendary, hard to read and has a complication unlikely to be used often. The other is super legible, has a date and a timing bezel I’d use several times a day, every day. Wears similar to a Daytona also.
Yacht-Master for me. |
