To early for my second purchase?

Last week I got my OP41 blue after 8 month of waiting at my local AD. This is my first purchase at a AD. Which makes me really careful of the relation I have with them.

Now to my question, is it to early to email and ask them to put me on the list for a Datejust 41 with fluent bezel and mint green dial?

I really like my OP41 but as you guys know I need a grail watch as well

Not too early imo - they understand the game / waiting component. just mention it’s for another milestone you have coming up in next 6-12 months etc

My AD always says “what’s next then” but no I don’t think it’s to early.

How long would you estimate the waiting time?

Impossible for anyone here to say. You said the OP was 8 months, start with that.

It will vary from person to person. I will be putting this on the list shortly and estimate about 2 months

Never to early, if the funds and desire are there then pull the trigger on it. I still have a hard time getting used to the fact that “we” the consumer are made to feel the way you feel right now. So many thing are ass backwards these days having to feel awkward or concerned about “asking” if it’s ok to buy something from them. Crazy times init? Good luck to you Bud and don’t t trip on all that nonsense.

I had a similar concern after I got my latest Sub Bluesy in Ferbruary. After the announcement of the green GMT Lefty I knew it would be a long wait and put my name on the list. Always good to have a reason to reach out and keep my name in front of them.

Congratulations on your OP.

Now that you have your first, it's not too early to be asking for the next watch. It's not like you're asking to be put on all their lists.

No, it’s not too early. These conversations come up naturally when you stop in and chat with your AD.

Just don't wish for a GMT.

"Thanks for your purchase! Anything for your personal collection?"
"A GMT BLNR, please"
"Sorry - that model is not available..."

After I bought my Bluesy this year (9 month wait), I went in a week later, to give my SA a gift … I showed her then pictures of 2 watches I would like to get next !!!

I have on my want list 5 watches … but I thought it would be best, at that time, to only ask for the 2 Daytonas I want most. Maybe asking for only 1 might be a better strategy, but I phrased it as an either or … “If you happen to get either of these two watches, I would love for you to think of me.”

Not too early if you have the financial means to do so.

It never hurts to ask, but remember that the AD may or may not have the watch in the configuration you would like, and you have to wait. It is always possible they offer you some different configuration of the watch you want. They may even offer a different reference. They could also have the watch you want and present to you for purchase. Just prepare your response for these possible scenarios.

No reason not to ask! Just make it clear that this is because you want to own two Rolexes, not because you immediately flipped the first for a profit. Something like a text with a photo of yours in a watch box, with an empty space next to it, and a caption with something like “I think it needs a friend, can you let me know when you have ________ available?”
