Panerai accuracy local+gmt hours
Hi,
I just bought new from a Panerai store a nice piece 533. When back home I realized the local hour is 15 minutes ahead: - when minutes set to zero, local hour has passed the time - when local hour set to any time (6 or 7...), the minutes indicate 15 min past time. - There is a deviation of 15 min between gmt & local hours when I want to put both on the same hour. - gmt and minutes are accurate. The next morning I gave back the watch to the store, they send it to the workshop to be set properly. I expect from Panerai and such a watch to leave the manufacture accurate and well set. It is just a setting but It is disappointing to start an adventure by opening the piece to be fixed after leaving the store. Did some of you had this experience before? What consideration should I take? This is my second Panerai, first one 320 in 2012 clean. Thanks for your advices! |

I had a similar issue with my 670 where the local hand would drift ahead of the GMT hand. My local boutique sent in to the center and after testing the watch sent it back stating they could not find the problem. I finally narrowed it down to the pinion gear slipping during minor shocks associated with daily wear. I methodical documented the drift and shared the information with the service manager. They had to overhaul the entire movement.
This happened after a year of almost wearing the watch on daily basis. If you recently bought the watch you have every right to ask for a stock exchange. |
