Daily driver… Final choice… Need help…
Dear friends!
My previous watches - Rolex OP39 Black and DJ36 SS White. Now I really miss Rolex, so I decided to choose something. I am wearing suits 80% of time. Thinking about one of these models as daily driver: 1) Sub41 126610LN Date Black 2) OP41 124300 silver with yellow gold hands 4) Expl36 124270 Help, please, with arguments in favor of one or the other option. Or maybe I should pay attention to some other Rolex model. Many thanks! |

Although you can't really go wrong with any of your choices, I would recommend a DJ41 on jubilee. My personal choice would be a sunburst blue dial. Bezel can be smooth or fluted; both work well with a suit.
I would not daily a Submariner with a suit but that's just me...

Wouldnt go for sub with a suit. An Exp1 will do it all.

Explorer 124270. Thought I’d forgo the usual wrist shot.

The Submariner works well in all situations. It is an icon of the brand and easily transitions to more casual attire.

Silver OP with a suit works far better than a sub with a suit.

I would choose a DJ over an OP, oyster with smooth bezel.

A great question to ask yourself is do you use/need a date function from your daily suit watch? I don’t wear a suit, but realized that I desire a date function from my daily. That alone steered me away from non-date models such as the OP and Exp.
If you don’t need the date, my preference would be Exp for a wrist under 7”. |

Suit 80% of the time … I’d say DJ. If you want to tone it down, go with the smooth bezel, oyster combo.

Submariner, but I'd personally go for 124060.
I think this watch can fit any occasion. |

Explorer. There are decent arguments for the Sub (it’s awesome and would be just fine), but the Exp just fits better under a cuff and fits in with a suit better for that 80% of the time, and it is rugged/casual enough for whatever you do with the remaining 20%. The OP you’ve chosen IMO would be a distant third, not because of the way it wears, but more so because I perceive the esthetics are more limiting. Best wishes

Do you like the size and proportions of a vintage sub, ala James Bond? Go for the Explorer, it will wear more like a vintage sub. Style Icon Lalle Johnson shows the way: Mr Lalle Johnson | Words by Mr Chris Elvidge | Photography by Mr Bill Gentle Lalle Johnson, Lookbook for Manolo (2017) |

I have the Black sub date and Exp 39mm and I for preference wear the Exp 39mm everyday because importantly: it sits more comfortable on the wrist and it is well below radar compared with the Sub.
The Explorer is a 24/7 watch in all situations. |

I previously wore OP39, but they were just not comfortable due to the fact that my wrist is different at different times of the year and even during the day. Sometimes the bracelet rubbed, sometimes they were quite large. I know that the problem can be solved with an easylink, which OP39 did not have. |

Sub 41 too big for a suit imho. Check out the discontinued 39mm Explorer 214270... it's the sweet spot for a do-it-all rolex

The Explorer 36 will do everything. There is no downside to this watch.

Silver OP for your current 80% suit attire. Such a unique watch. This and the TT CHNR are must see in person to really appreciate in my opinion.

All great choices, but given some of your statements and preferences I would go OP 1st Exp 2nd and Sub Date 3rd. Love the sub date the most personally but just feel the other two probably suit the environment you are looking for a bit better.

I don't understand all of the hate on subs with suits. Is it perfect? No. But it dresses up easier than a DJ dresses down, IMO... I wear my sub with a suit and feel like I can dress it all the way down to athletic attire. If I had a DJ, I would not wear it with casual attire. If you have more than one watch, DJ makes sense. If you are looking for one daily, I think the sub is the best option.
