People/Celebrities....WHAT'S GOING ON???

Ed Mcmahon, Billy Mays, Farrah Fawcett, Steve McNair, Michael Jackson.....in the boxing world, the GREAT Alexis Arguello last week(lot of speculation suicide or murder) and just found out 5 min ago Arturo 'Thunder' Gatti, murdered this morning in Brazil.....I'm in shock...

Anyone who know anything about boxing knows that his trilogy with 'Irish' Mickey Ward is one of, if not the best trilogies in all boxing---you got Sugar Ray Robinson/Jake Lamotta (that was 5 or 6 fights though) Ali/Frazier, Riddick Bowe/Evander Holyfield, Marco Antonio Barrera/Erik Morales, Manny Pacquiao/Erik Morales, and recently Israel Vazquez/Rafael Marquez.

Gatti put his all into every fight and had 2 tough fights with Ivan Robinson, but he will always be remembered for being a true blood and guts warrior...Round 9 of Gatti/Ward I is considered one of the greatest rounds in all boxing history....sad sad day R.I.P to the gutsiest warrior who ever stepped into the ring....

Of course, the Hammer of Thor!!!, what a wicked right hand....but that was in January...this string is like within weeks of eachother!!! And Gatti was MURDERED, Arguello, foul play is suspected, but he did have a long history of depression and drug abuse

Watch the link...I've seen that fight at least 30x, that round easily over 100x, never get sick, just like Corrales Castillo Round 10

I cant post the youtube link directly, and I know its much easier to click the link if you havethe clip in front of you, but its worth it if you havent seen it

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=imZaiGJgbsw

I'm not savvy enough to do it, but click both links...boxing fan or not, your adrenaline will be flying...I screamed like a little girl when I watched the Corrales fight (another fallen warrior, R.I.P. 'Chico")

Arturro Gatti is dead?

I hadn't heard, and I am in shock.

One fighter I truly respect. Sadly, I must now change to "respected."

I don't believe that for a second. I would imagine he is in the same situation as Magic. He takes the drugs for a protracted duration and poof he shows up as negative. I don't buy it, I certainly wouldn't get into the ring with him.
HIV or not

I'm still in shock over this...I was just watching Gatti/Ward I on my Ipod yesterday and thinking to myself you don't see slugfests like this anymore, you don't see guys with heart like this willing to die in the ring. It didn't even make major press yet, because he's only known among boxing circles. Lost the full article, but looks like his wife is the suspect--this is all I could find so far, but before the Darchinyan fight on Showtime a few hours ago, they gave Gatti, Arguello, and Michael Jackson a 10 count in their memory...sad sad day for boxing to lose a real warrior..and he has a 2 year old kid. R.I.P. Thunder.

Jim:
went to a Bastille Day Party tonight. Met a guy who designed the sound system for many bands, including Grateful Dead, Rolling Stones, Beach Boys,
Loggins and Messina, Eagles, AC/DC.....he got to know them all, wasn't impressed. Either am I. I know you're more important than they are in my world. I hope this NY Note gets through. And yes, I am drunk as a skunk.
best,
dan

Approximately 154,000 people die each day on planet earth.

"Celebrities" are not immune

Great posting, and you are right about Ward v Gatti being a legendary fight. The fact that Cappuccino, the ref, let them fight on shows just how good a ref he was - both men still able to defend themselves...

Fantastic. What warriors. RIP Arturro Gatti

Yea, but I would've had no prob if it was stopped in the 9th...but for Gatti to get up after that liver shot and still throw punches...how much heart is that?? Gatti was out on his feet the last 15 seconds, but came roaring back in rd 10...part II and III obviously didn't have as much drama, as Gatti chose to box instead of slug, but man that rd 9 still gives me goosebumps

Talk about people/celebrities dying, at work alone we've had 3 deaths in the past month. And, in my family we've had one this year. Simply unbelievable, a BIG "death" year.

Bottom line, we're ALL gonna go one day, but NO ONE, celebrity or joe schmoe, deserves to be murdered...

Amen to that brother

I remember watching Lethal Weapon 2 in the theaters, scene where Mel is in bed with some blonde woman, and the room gets shot up, I remember a LOUD guy running commentary throughout the whole movie...'THAT'S HOW I WANNA GO'!!! Even 8, 9 years old, whatever I was at the time, I started laughing

Dying in bed with Patsy Kensit...I'm sure it's been done a few times in the rock and roll community
