YM 40 Blue dial discontinued??

I was at an AD today in LA and the sales associate saw my watch (blue dial yachtmaster 40) and said "oh nice they stopped making those". I fugured she thought it was a different watch but then mentioned again and specified blue yachtmaster. I just played it off because i think she is incorrect, as its still on the rolex website. This is news to me and im sure she is incorrect. Just seeing if anyone else has heard this? Cheers

She’s mistaken. If it’s on the Rolex’s site then it is still available.

Probably some confusion over what's on www.rolex.com and the AD's website (a feed from Rolex, with only a curated selection of configurations shown). If you look at any AD's site, go to view models, and navigate to YM, you won't see that configuration. But you will on the main Rolex site.

Right, I didn’t say AD website. I’ve said it many times on here to never rely on an AD’s website to configure a reference. Go straight to the source.

In this case, the OP heard this from a SA, so it shouldn’t have anything to do with it missing on the site. She is just ill informed.

No, I was saying the SA was probably going based on her store’s site, as opposed to the actual Rolex site.

Your reference to the difference between the two is exactly what I was pointing out, though I believe the confusion was on her part, not yours.

It’s sad that a sales person at an authorized dealer would not know the difference between their site and the Rolex site.

However, one of her coworkers could have told her too. We really don’t know what the source of her information is.

Most of these people are like car dealers. I always know more about their products than they do. With that said, the current AD I’m working with is very good.

I heard they are not making them anymore and it will disappear from the website before years end. This is a sleeper reference and will increase in value

It's not happening until it happens. It hasn't happened. No announcement, still on the website. Check again in March/April 2023.

Got mine 2 months ago, very happy about it too. There was already speculation before W&W of it being discontinued. And then it was not... Anyways, I waited over a year for it. It was worth it!

Has to be true, a Rolex SA never lies.
