Rolex Service Center Beverly Hills Experience -
I just wanted to bring to everyone's attention what I witnessed at the Beverly Hills service center. I brought my 18238 YG day date there in the last few weeks and told the male service rep there was something on my left upper lug. In front of me, and to my horror, he used his bare fingernail to try and scrape off what I was describing to him. That is the last time I am bringing any of my watches there. INSANE !!

What was on the watch was irrelevant. How this particular staff member tried to go about removing what was there was wrong. Nowhere in any Rolex manuals does it state to use your fingernail to remove anything from their watches.

Imagine what service centers do to your watch when you're not present. You may be too gingerly when it comes to your watch, I get it, they cost a small fortune, but don't expect everyone to treat them the same way you do.

Personally, I sure wouldn’t worry about anyone using their fingernail on my watch. By the way, what was there?

I also had a good experiences at this service center, until I didn't. I just wanted everyone to know what I went through and this does not mean you will have the same thing happen to you.

Unless this guy was Wolverine or Edward Scissorhands how is his fingernail going to do any damage to a Rolex?

If a fingernail can ruin a solid gold watch, maybe that watch ain't all its hyped up to be.

I am curious as to whether a fingernail is of sufficient hardness to damage the gold alloy or finish produced by Rolex. Did it leave any scratches?
I have an old 1675/3 that was quite worn that I took to RSC BH. They told me I should probably seek out a CW21 certified watchmaker as Rolex would want to replace many of the original vintage parts. I did have them authenticate for an estimate but in the end I took the advice. That said, everyone I dealt with was very professional and quite nice. Swiss chocolate and water offered, but of course! Kind of like that Grey Poupon commercial. |

I dinged the fluted bezel on my old DJ41 when putting it on. You don’t even need Wolverine nails as it’s very soft lol. I can’t speak for the watch mid-case or bracelet, but I’m sure it’ll leave micro scratches. I’m curious to what the OP even brought his watch in for and what was on the watch. |

What was actually on the watch? I mean, I get it, I have scratched the coating on my car mirror before when I wiped it with a microfiber cloth. There were small dust particles that did the damage. However, in that case. It was probably a natural reaction and honestly I wouldn't lose sleep over that.
Think of all the times your sleeve is rubbing against your watch. Or the next time you wipe it down. Any polished surface on a watch is basically going to get micro scratches one way or another if you wear it at all. |

A fingernail is probably softer than any tool that would be used on your watch!
