IWC Big Pilot Question

I have been kicking around the 5029 or 5030 perpetual calendar as having an IWC join my small collection.

Anyone have any input on the case durability? I big black case looks fantastic, unless it’s easy to ding/scratch.

I’m a big guy, so the size isn’t an issue.

Would love any more input from owners and feel free to toss wrist shots in here!!

Don't have any experience on 5029.

Not familiar with the black models but if it's ceramic, no worries about scratching. I have had this ceramic watch since 2006 and it's been near perfect.

Those two models are ceramic….unless you drop the watch on hard tile floor: right on its lug , you will be fine.

Ceramic is extremely scratch proof but can crack if you are very unlucky

I own a 5029 and love it. No issues with durability and I wear it a good bit. I have had it since 2018 and there are no marks or Nic on the case. My AD, where I got it, said the only thing that could hurt the case is a drop on a tile floor. I’ve seen some ceramic cases that develop hairline white lines from wear but I haven’t seen that in any of my Top Gun IWCs.

I always get bored of black watches after a while. The steel version of this is more interesting with nice polishing on the outer case and bezel. It's also not a watch that scratches much either since it's mostly dial.
