Datejust-Baton or Roman dial...which looks better?
Which dial configuration do you think looks better? Stick/baton or Roman? It'll come down to either white or blue dial....

Depends on how else you have it configured (eg dial color, bracelet, bezel). Many guys would opt for the batons for the lume.
I have Romans on my DJ, and from previous threads I’m in a distinct minority. |

Sticks only for me. But there are so many ways to configure it can get a bit overwhelming.

If you’re going to have a one watch collection then stick markers would be my recommendation. But, if you have a larger than 1 watch collection, then a Roman numeral dial on a Datejust is definitely a cool way to diversify and add flavour to your watch box
I personally love the Roman on white dial and the stick markers on the blue |

Batons/sticks would always be my pick.
The only place the romans work well imo are on the modern day dates… which has sharper more contemporary looking romans Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I prefer the sticks on a DJ. But can see adding a roman option if you have a large collection.

I like the sticks but bought the Roman’s to match my wife’s 26mm.
I don’t think there is a bad choice here.

I like the sticks on many DJ configurations but like the Wimbledon for example is stunning with its Romans. Just depends on the specific setup and which bezel, color of dial and bracelet.

Datejust-Baton or Roman dial...which looks better?
Roman or baton, I like them equally. Owned both multiple times. Currently I have the glossy black roman style dial in my humble collection.

Probably depends on the dial, but the azzurro blue with the numerals was impossible for me to pass up, just a stunning combo.

It’s keep in mind, the sticks have lume in the hour hands as well as the hour markers. The Roman versions have no lume in either. For me the white dial with Romans looks like a day date in white gold.

Walked into an AD a few years ago and fell in love with the Romans with Rhodium dial... Liked the way the Romans were subtle against the dial

Batons for me too.
Roman numerals look kind of cool but I guess so do Greek numerals or Sanskrit numerals.

I prefer sticks.
I wish they would do the deconstructed romans like on the Day Date dial, that would be a cool option |

No wrong answers here, but, for me …
Batons on 36mm (gets a little “crowded”, for me, with Numerals on a 36mm). Roman Numerals on a 41mm, for a little flare. |

I’m in the baton camp, but seeing as I’m a 36mm guy, I am conflicted here as I also like the white dial and it only comes as Roman. On the DJ I’m also partial to the Jubilee because I don’t like PCL Oyster bracelets. Were I configuring a DJ36, I’d probably go Jubilee/silver/domed since the fluted seems more delicate. However I’d be tempted to do fluted with the blue dial for some reason (white would be domed as I find fluted + Roman too busy).

If only one watch go with batons. If more than one watch, go with Romans. Romans are not as common and will stand out a bit more.

Both look good but I like sticks better for the Datejust.
Weirdly, I like the numerals a bit more on smooth vs fluted but in both, still prefer sticks. |
